yes, i have. i dont think its too far off of a comparison...harden is still young and really hasnt even hit his peak yet...we really don't know what his ceiling is. like i said it would be awesome if he could reach pierce's level but heck who really knows.

Lol. I'm a huge Lin fan (favorite all-time players probably Olajuwon and Lin), but even I have to laugh at this.

I have a feeling OKC asked for Toronto's pick, then Rockets asked for Cole in exchange. Very good deal for Houston.

    Very interesting stuff....

So basically he took more shots with either on the floor and actually shot better without both. Lets hope the numbers hold true when he gets here.

OKC wasn't going to trade Harden for Kmart straight up, especially with Kmart unrestricted. OKC must have asked for Lamb and picks, and we countered by asking for Cole and Cook. Still good deal for us.

Harden is not a point guard. Rockets don't even have a solid backup PG right now, though I have hope for Livingston.

What people may not realize is that with Harden's max contract it may be difficult to resign Parsons and/or sign any worthwhile free agents down the road. Harden, Lin and Asik suck up MAJOR moolah, especially in their third years, making it extremely difficult for the Rockets to sign beyond what they already have (or even hold on to what they have at present).

The Rockets are no better than they were last year; and with the loss of Parsons at the end of his contract, may end up being worse in years to come.

ESPN picked this team to win 18 games and finish in last place this year. With Harden replacing Martin this team will do better than that, but, not by much; and this all assuming LIn plays to his potential and doesn't shoot 1 of 8 and commit 6 turnovers every other game.

Morey is a NOW guy and with a lot to prove as a GM; expect much of his efforts to be focused on having a respectable year this year with less concern for the future. Expect more trades to happen over the course of the year, with young talent being dealt away for veterans who can help in this year's stretch run.

I'm so excited. I dont expect a big start by Harden in the Detroite game, but i think when he gets int the rythem of our gameplan, he will shine. A full court transition offense suits his skill set to a T.

Dont the Rockets have enough cap room to sign a MAX FREE AGENT NEXT SEASON?

Don't really like it right now. Always said I don't see Harden as a franchise player but more of a world class 6th man that can't carry a team on his back without a franchise player next to him.

I don't mind giving up K-Mart, he's an excellent asset and we knew it.

But giving up Lamb, who was the most talented SG in this draft(my opinion) and has upside to be a bonified all-star and T-Mac with lesser playmaking had me intrigued in a way no Rockets rookie has for years.
The thing is we won't be a contender in the next two years, so he really could've developed here without pressure and we would've seen his true potential. Plus he's on his rookie contract and we still could've signed a semi-star in FA period.

Now to the picks, the Dallas one was mediocre, but the TOR pick has the potential to land to be ~4-10 in my eyes, which lands you promising prospects like McAdoo, Mitchell, Gobert, Austin, etc.

Do I prefer Harden+Cook or Lamb+K-Mart+one of these guys? I'd go with #2 in that case, as I see Lamb developing more than solid after one or two years and I love some of the potential picks to strengthen the team.

We still have cap for a max contract after signing Harden to a new deal, but I still would've liked developing Lamb and a 2013 top 10 rookie.

In the end I think this move is good from a business standpoint, as Harden is one of the better known NBA players and the marketing potential of a Lin-Harden backcourt is through the roof. This will likely draw better FAs in a few months.

About the other guys involved: Hayward will be stuck behind Parsons, but he's a really solid backup and gives us more depth.
Cole Aldrich gives us the much needed backup C, but he's not a guy we can rely on for big minutes.
Cook is a great backup SG that provides us with much needed 3pt shooting, one of the best guys in the league at that. Will probably have some huge nights where his shooting will give us the needed points to win games.

I'm okay with the deal, but in the end it comes down to Harden proving he can be a first option for a contender, the other factor will be the development of Lamb. This deal could bite us in the azz in a few years if Lamb realizes his potential, if he doesn't we come out better than OKC deal-wise.

Yeah, and sign him for a one year contract???? It's the third year that's the problem, if I'm not mistaken. Correct me if I'm wrong here...

Exactly. We will be in the same predicament as the Thunders were with Harden. We wont be able to resign our key guys or spend money to solve our needs. That Third in in particular with Asik and Lin will kill us.
