i dont think it's desperate if it's toronto &/or dallas pick.we mit not get a high lotto pick from both teams. fair enough .nice expiring (martin),young potential sg (lamb and some picks for okc
Another nice thing about this deal is that a star finally wants to play in Houston. You better believe Presti said to Harden's agent: "Sign the deal or we'll trade him to Houston." That tactic last spring made Dwight flinch and resign with Orlando, but not the bearded one.
My only concern is not having a first round pick for next year. This is a team that still needs to build, and a good way of doing that is through the draft. It's possible that with this move we're looking more towards free agency now though. Either way, I'm excited!!!
This. Posters are so enamored w the unknown, always valuing potential over a proven commodity. Never mind that harden himself is young as hell. But there's ZERO guarantee that those picks or lamb ever approach the level harden already has. This was a no-brainer for the rockets.
Why wouldn't they celebrate? They got exactly what they needed. Martin's a good guard for their championship run this year and comes off the books after this season. In Lamb and the picks, they got assets that they can use to improve their team or include in trades. Most of all, they're able to stay in the hunt without making long-term financial commitments that could hurt their team. Meanwhile, we did exactly what we've been wanting to do for ages - cash in a number of our smaller assets for one big one. Harden's a great player and one of the best 2-guards in the league and he's only 23! We finally have a real star. This is a great trade for both teams. We both got what we needed.
Can anyone update us on the way the cap would look if we sign Harden? Are we kind of screwed for reupping Parsons and some of the other younger guys?
Lin/Livingston/Machado Harden/Cook/Douglas Parsons/Delfino/Morris Patterson/Jones/White Asik/Smith/D-Mo I don't see us holding onto Hayward or Aldrich. And I can see us at 6th or 7th in the west now.
Rockets just created a big buzz - more than Lin IMO. This will give Toyota Center a big uplift. It's important. We just got to hope for some breaks in getting some more talent. It was the right move, a little risky but had to be made.
Rockets are gambling big time but they got what they wanted. OKC also got what they wanted. Martin is a one man bench as far as scoring goes.
Well, you gotta ask: what other star will be available for Morey to get? He has struck out a ton already. And Harden is a LEGIT star (I still believe at most he'll be a #2 star). And getting an all-star is fairly hard nowadays unless you get that sure player. This team finally has a star. Now Morey has to go get another (and please, Lin is not a star).
