Yeah I agree. I didn't like there commentators. They were pretty dull imo.

funny you should say that, I watched the game with the magic commentators and was blown away by how bad they were, had no facts whatsoever, referred to royce white as royce smith, mixed up some other players' names. the color commentator actually lost his voice a couple of times and talked like a kid in puberty, really annoying.

So I just watched the first quarter and half of the second quarter and I'd rather not spend my time breaking down that garbage offense of McHale's.

It seriously has to be one of the worst designed offenses in the league.

Those motion sets with mutliple handoffs are just brutal.

The spacing on the post-ups is decent and at times some of the players (rookies) aren't in spots they should be in (Jones for example one time didn't duck in from the weakside for the dunk off the p&r when he could have/where a vet would have), but there's nothing special about any of these sets.
Most of them take (way) too long to develop, are easy to take away and don't have enough structure or secondary options. It's basic pick&roll. Basic early offense. Basic post-ups. Everything is simplistic.

That handoff motion set is probably the most advanced thing they run and to me it looks like it's more confusing for the offense than it is for the defense. There aren't a lot of opening to penetrate, everything is easy to collapse or take away and once the first two options are taken away, everything comes to an halt.

Oh well. I guess, it'S at least a good offense for tanking purpuses. :)

Disappointed with White Royce's play so far. I don't know if he's not being utilized correctly but he cannot seem to do anything well unless he has the ball in his hands. Maybe long drives to get to the games are adversely affecting his physical condition. Maybe he is a PG, not a Forward. He certainly is not a SG. What do people think should be done with Royce White? Also, Machado is really a good passer but he seems to be unable to create shots, and his D is slightly better than Lamb's D. I am also disappointed with Lamb's D also.

Lin was solid, but we have to keep in mind that Orlando might be the worst team in NBA this season, so . . . Asik is really a good passer. If he could develop short and mid-range jumpers, he could really be a force. Also, he needs to learn how to set better picks for PNRs.

If he trades Martin it will be to help the team win or be better positioned moving forward.

There is a big difference between rebuilding and Tanking.

The rockets will never tank and I wouldn't want to be a fan if they did.

Life is precious. You play every game and every season to win. You never know if you will get another chance.

Royce did great last night. He got aggressive and drove that thing at will. Like I said before, he needs to do the little things first like finishing his lay ups:mad: He will hurt this team more as a point forward.

Greg smith in the paint was nice to see. Patterson and Martin have to go. Patterson is getting outplayed and out hustled. Martin isn't a go to guy, a role player.

Thanks for dissecting. Just playing devil's advocate, but maybe at this point in time, the guys have not been able to implement complex sets with success. Maybe KISS is the way to go for now.

How do you think Rockets should utilize Royce White to maximize his contribution to the team's success?

    You know Morey's history?

Heck, this off season, he traded Lowry, Lee and released Scola, these guys were Morey's best contributions to the team aside from rent Artest for that one year. And he tried to trade Scola, Martin and Dragic at the beginning of last season before the NBA nerfed the deal. If Morey can get a deal he thinks will help the team long term, NO ONE is safe. He'd trade Lin if the rules stated he could and there was someone with an asset that he wanted.

McHale said he's keeping things really simple to keep from overloading the young guys with info. So not surprising everything is basic.

Not that it means a whole lot, but the team's offensive efficiency preseason is among the top 5 in the league. They may actually have an above-avg offensive team.

I've seen some effort at PNR offense in previous games, don't know where that went. I'd like to see more iso, screens and backdoor cuts (ehh, McHale?).

Also, if Asik is such a good passer, he should be getting the ball in the low post and passing back out to open spot-up shooters, but I guess the defense would have to assume he's going to shoot and double-team him, so never mind. I can wish, can't I?

That probably wouldn't work because Asik often loses the ball within a couple of seconds when he posts up. Maybe he should hold the ball higher, idk.

In 12 minutes of playing time, Machado led the Rockets in assists.

Not that significant when ORL wasn't defending at all in garbage time.
