This "w****" makes six figures per year as an engineer. No wonder she had suitors lined up to ask for her hand. How much do you make?

She's a catch. And you will never catch someone like her. bet me.

Note this wasn't a sudden death, scenario. Both he and her had at least 6 months knowing about the inevitable.

I totally get where you are coming form. Here's how I rationalize it, based on facts.

When they met, they chose to date based on not liking the dating scene anymore and wanted someone serious about raising a family; they are devote Catholics, if that matters. I think they were 34 at the time. They got married within a year, but both had important jobs. She wanted to take night school to get her MBA while still working a full job.

They postponed babies for that, for 2 years.

After that 2 years, she's done, but wants to travel and decompress and enjoy life for a little while. Finally, after 3 years of marriage they are ready to start the family, then he gets cancer. Then 2 more years go from her life as a mother.

None of us males really can grasp the whole "Clock is ticking" pressure for her. don't judge.

Despite all the logical 'life is short/no sense in being unhappy/we have biological needs' perspective, there's something powerful about the man/woman who doesn't move on quickly or never moves on at all.

A widower who lived on our street while I was growing up never stopped mourning his murdered wife. He was the Old World/chivalrous model of man. His wife was killed many years before I knew him, and he had become middle aged. He used to be very handsome and promiscuous before he married. After his wife's death, he still had lots of women throwing themselves at him, yet he turned them all down because none of them compared to his wife - rumours said. Ironically, that kind of loyalty made him even more attractive when he became older, and in public women would sigh and whisper when he walked past.

I can't speak for the OP's friend's wife, but in general I think deep down most wish they had a partner like the above. That's also why we love loyalty stories like Hachiko where a dog waited in the same spot for his (dead) master nine years till he also died. So much of this life is ephemeral before time snatches it away, and all memories of it having existed are lost. People who mourn us long after we've gone defy that inevitability. The longer they wait, the more we respect them. It can be argued that expecting this is selfish and irrational, but we are humans.

I'm not judging her at all, simply speaking from personal experiences. I've had experiences with relatives' death, friends losing their gf/bf or spouses... and it takes a very LONG time before one can move on--I mean that person has been part of your every day life for a long time, so merely a few months aren't enough, I don't believe anyways.

But it appears she married and is re-marrying b/c she wants to be a mother/family more than anything. I do know of people (cultural beliefs) who marry b/c it's "time" to have a family/kids, not purely out of love.

Just like OP said -she had plenty of suitors if it hadnt been this guys dick she sat on, it would have been some other dudes.. whether 5 minutes earlier or 5 minutes later. what does it matter.

not a w**** more like an ambitious 'achievement w****' :

-move from mother russia - check
-get engineering degree and 6 figures in good ole USA- check
    -marry americansky - check
-needs baby /replacement family while dead body of ex still warm - check
-ambitiously passing on morality and everything else -check

Not bad natasha.. not bad.. good show. Hope it was worth it and the 3rd party internet shaming. by any means necessary natasha. Just remember that natasha. caesar was ambitious too.

sorry, I wrote that as a general comment to all. I saw that in your first post you actually said "it's not right for any of us to judge." My intention was to chime in with your statement. I should have made that more clear.

But at the end of the day, happiness is the main thing we all seek in life. And it appears she has a very great friend in you to have her back :)

    lulz. repped.

Absolutely no offense meant: income is a paltry and meaningless qualification for a person being a 'catch'. I'm sure she's more than an above-average IQ lady with a decent paycheck.

    lol

Do you know what one definition of stupidity is at cf.net? Underestimating the ability of '99ers to spot a troll a mile away.

I got you to respond in a defensive manner, b****.

Now, get out of my thread about my best friend's widow, troll.

Oh, entirely missed it, my bad. The answer is five.... or maybe six. Not sure if Roxy is still sucking D on the side for cash or just fun after she gets off her shift designing the next mars rover.

By the way, I would be happy for this lady for your friend's sake and in his memory, as long as she's truly happy. Something of him will live on through this baby; some quirk or life lesson or whatever that his widow picked up or learned which will pass on to the child. I hope that helps with any mixed feelings you may be having.

lol you're the defensive one here. I'm just being honest. Can't be a troll if I actually make 250k a year. I have a better job than your w**** engineer, guess that's surprising to those who are less fortunate than I.

Why? If I'm dead, I won't come back as a ghost to sex my grieving wife. It's a useless and possessive sentiment, and it's quite unfair to someone you supposedly love rather than own.

If she was riding **** while I'm bed-ridden and throwing chunks from chemo, that's a different story.

While nice and heartwarming, I'm not going to haunt my wife if she survives me. She has to live on without me. Not the other way around.

Well shiet, sounds like banking 250k a year doesn't make one a better person...
