I don't open the door for the strangers. Period. So, it's unlikely that I'll end up with unwanted magazine subscriptions.
For the record, I was mostly trying to give LongHornFan a hard time. Him and his wife should do whatever makes them feel safe and comfortable.
So, they found him and he's on his way to jail. The cop called me since the wife had to go get ready for a Halloween party tonight and she's not at home, and he said the guy would not talk at all about what he was doing in our neighborhood, and he wouldn't tell them where he lived or give his name. Denied going door to door, said he was just carrying the clipboard for a friend. A friend whose name he did not know. Now I'm pretty glad I called the cops. Who knows what this twit was up to, but I feel better.
Good your husband will be happy. My wife once ordered $12 wrapping paper from a little girl across the street. Luckily the order ended up cancelled and we got our money back. I've had strangers come by, and it has been to sell me something or to let me know something has happened outside that requires my attention. I don't have a peephole, but rather a window at the top of my door that can be hard to see through without a stool. Sometimes I've been happy I opened the door, other times I've wanted to slam the door in those Jehovahs faces or it has been my annoying neighbor.
You definitely did the right thing. The guy was either casing houses or trying some form of identity theft.
You're new around these parts aren't you?? Maybe you should ask LHF's wife if they have a dog...... Seriously though, definitely a scam, and I definitely would've been just as pissed as you LHF. You did the right thing by calling the cops.
This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen posted on this board. YOU DO NOT ANSWER YOUR DOOR IF YOU DON'T KNOW THE PERSON ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A WOMAN HOME ALONE!!! Jesus
Probably knocking on doors to see who is home during the day and who isn't, then rob the houses that are unocupied.
Well I'm glad to hear your wife has resumed speaking to you after the dog sharting incident. Also, I hate the lack of enforcement of fraud with the voting process. Just start using photo IDs, and let's be done with this.
They did get a confession out of him. He was working for some "backdoor" campaign office (I don't even know what that means, it's the exact words the detective used) and they were paying him to solicit fraudulent voting. As soon as I found out who, if I do, I will be passing this on to all of the local TV networks to see if they'll pick it up. This is not only sad for whatever party they are wanting in, but just seriously pathetic.
Yes- in Georgia, a true battleground state. You were the object of a conspiracy going up to the HIGHEST. LEVELS.
Lol, wut? Are you drunk? As posted on like page one, I live in Houston dude. I'm just posting what happened. Take your great whit back to the DD.
I used to be against them, but nearly everyone I know lives in gated communities, apartments, or houses with good privacy and gates. Burglars, solicitors, and other unwanted people are rare. I also share many of OP's anxiety because my woman is too naive/trusting. I think when I have children I'll move to a place that has that level of safety (and isolation).
wow...this doesn't really make sense in Texas regarding the Presidential race. Is there a contested local election in your area. This is just f'd up. I vote that you broadcast this to local TV, too.
