I think Felton might be onto something there. I have never seen another player with Lin's preternatural ability to get all five defenders to just abandon all others and react to him when he drives. His teammates need to realize this and take advantage of the target on Lin's forehead and not just stand around like deers in headlights. So far only Asik reacts to Lin drives consistently, with some Jones thrown in. Honestly I was expecting Parsons to do this a lot more, but Parsons has been pretty disappointing in that department thus far.

Sarcasm aside, Arron Afflalo was a salary dump by the Nuggets and the real cornerstone of the trade was Nikola Vučević, Robbed Hennigan was just too clueless to realize that at the time. Hennigan did do one thing right, though: When you have absolutely zero friggin clue what you are doing, just trade for a whole trashbin of crap and pray at least one piece of **** will be wet enough to stick to the wall.

But at the same time though Lin needs to keep his dribble alive at the very end of his penetration. Both parties are at fault here. I think eventually they will all figure it out though. It's like Lin is falling backwards but his teammates aren't there to catch him. We will see how everything goes today.

What Lin needs to do is not actually ever be at the very end of his penetration when nobody is reacting to his drive. It's too late to try to keep his dribble alive once he's surrounded by five guys that deep. You cannot dribble when you are surrounded. Lin only has one speed, which is full speed toward the basket once he fires up those rockets. He needs to learn to read the deers in headlights look in his teammates' eyes better so he can terminate the penetration before it gets to the very end.

The team doesn't really have any cutters. In New York, Fields was very good at cutting to the basket for alley oops and easy dunks. However, Houston has better shooters on the perimeter.

I agree with what you are saying and I have seen in penetrate deep and then circle out when nobody was there. What I am talking about is when his teammates are reacting to his drive he has to keep his dribble alive sufficiently enough and then make the right decision at the right time.

Funnily enough Lin was touted for having a "hesitation" dribble during Linsanity. Wonder where that went

Since you mentioned Fields, Lin got bailed out lots of time just by lobbing the ball up to Chandler who with one motion would go up and throw it down. Asik is not there yet. Omer so far I have seen, goes up to catch the ball and bring it down and then up again to dunk. You can see few times last game, where Omer didn't even jump, he waited for the ball to land to catch, and by that time he was surrounded by 2 defenders.
I just think Lin has to use his floaters more or quick stop jump shots more now that he is with Rockets.

Does anyone know if tonight's game will be on league pass? I'm not from Houston so blackouts don't apply to me.

My problem with the trade is the Lakers didn't give up anything of value except trade up an injured Bynum for DH. Just look at the lottery protection, how do you justify lottery protecting your picks when you're not giving up anything in the trade?

To be quite honest, IMHO the trade wouldn't be so bad if Orl got to dump some salary LA's way and got those picks unprotected. Its just mind-boggling how Orlando got robbed so badly, and I think we'll see that this season.

Should be. It's on the schedule (channel 751 if you also have DirecTV like me).

Id like to see Lin shoot a tear drop shot, or a 15 foot jumper. His drives are getting kind of predictable for the opposing team defense, he needs to mix it up.

I thought it was written that Hennigan really wanted Moe Harkless, who unfortunately hasn't been able to play yet due to a hernia. Nikola Vučević is a legit 6'10" player without shoes (DeMarcus Cousins is 6'9" without shoes) and has some range, and Arron Affalo provides some height and defense at the Shooting Guard position that J.J. Redick can't.

Lin indeed draws a lot of defensive attention, sometimes even a third defender to deal with his penetration. There's a lot of opportunity there. It's one of the reasons the offense runs so much better when he's on the floor.

ho_chenCSN: Found this interesting. The only 2 #Rockets to have multi-block games this preseason are Terrence Jones &... Jeremy Lin. #Linsanity
