if only rockets chose jae crowder instead of royce white.... rox wouldve had a legit sg to replace kmart....
As much as I like Crowder, White should be fine. Coaching staff are experimenting with him now. Hayes at his peak is undersized but strong with good rebounding, low post defense and nice passing. White will be a taller, stronger, more athletic version of Hayes, and he'll be as good on rebounding, low post defense and better on handle, passing, offense. The best recipe for White is to defend opponent's low post player and concentrate on rebounding. Once he gets the rebound, he's the most leathal weapon in transition.
He's not a SG. He played PF in college. People thought he's going to be a way undersized PF that's why he dropped. But his game is actually very perimeter oriented and is definitely one of the best shooters in this draft. I don't think he has a true position in pros but should be able to cave out a nice career as a 6th man, still a major steal in 2nd round. His best attribute besides shooting is his hustle and toughness. Kid has heart. He will stick in this league.
Give me any of the Rockets young players over Crowder. Dont get me wrong, the guy is a second round steal type of role player, but he's wouldn't do anything towards helping the Rockets rebuilding plans. Now if someone like Perry Jones, Sullinger, Ezeli, etc. turn out to be the kind of players they have the potential to be in the NBA, sure, the Rockets probably made a mistake passing on them. That being said, I have a feeling Crowder is going to be one of those guys that just annoys the crap out of Rockets fans every time they play each other. He's a guy that makes up for his physical attributes with smarts, and hussle. If you could put those attributes into the body of someone like Royce White, you have yourself a bonified superstar.
He's playing SG/SF in the NBA, and at those positions(especially the 2) he's got phsical advantage. As one earlier post suggested, he's 6"5' without shoe at the most recent combine. And he's super strong as a wing prospect: http://www.draftexpress.com/article/NBA-Combine-Athletic-Testing-Results-Released-3964/ Bench Press Repititions Five Best: Jae Crowder 20 Meyers Leonard 19 JaMychal Green 19 Festus Ezeli 18 Kevin Jones 17 Scott Machado 17 Darius Johnson-Odom 17 From DraftExpress.com http://www.draftexpress.com#ixzz2AQhf6nTK http://www.draftexpress.com
As I said, I think he is the best shooter in this draft and will stick in this league for a long time and be a crowd favorite whenever he plays. I will easily take him on my team as a legit 6th man. Having said that, as a SG prospect, our own Jeremy Lamb is way better. Jeremy already knows how to play SG and has all the attributes to be a 2-way player. Just wait until his body catches up to his game! The one guy Rockets will really regret not drafting ahead of Royce White and Terrence Jones IMO is Magic's Andrew Nicholson who already has advanced post moves and is going to be a starting quality PF sooner than later.
Is there actually any hard evidence that they are the same poster? Or is that just the site wide theory? I am curious to know :}
That's me. Liked Crowder a lot in college. (He's always been a winner.) I never dreamed he would be able to extend himself to the perimeter like he has. Now I'm wondering if he's reached his ceiling or is there more there to explore. One thing for sure, he's about as good defending guys like Lebron as you can get.
