Bowe is making 9.4 million THIS year. How would we fit that under the cap? We can't just take on that much salary.

well we could do a few things if we areally wanted him: up the draft pick a bit to get KC to pay for more of his salary and/or a combination of sending back salary and restructuring deals.

I believe in Rick being able to find a way to fit him in if that's the direction we're wanting to go.

those OTHER teams are throwing it around 40+ pass attempts compared to our 31. if matt threw for 10 more attemps, his accuracy would net another 44.54 yards per game. that's 328 extra yards in seven games. He technically would be
4th-5th in passing yards with 1,976..
that is three yards behind and more importantly more wins than the greatest qb ever:rolleyes: without the need to fling it from the one yard line. I.E our game plan doesn't call for passing it when we're up by 20.

right now the right side of the line has been the culprit for other teams stopping the run and the passing attack. You often hear kubiak say our line didn't play a "clean" game. though matt isn't getting sacked, those edge rushers are still getting licks in. Newton is not inept. he has anchored down elite rushers, but he is often being fooled by schemes. It happens to brown in his fifth season, imagine two rookies.
That's why I would rather have Winston back than a receiver. We're not going to stop running the ball in the 4th qtr when we're up just because we have a receiver that is better than Kevin.

Also, I don't think Kubiak just forgot about foster in the passing game. I believe there is a plan behind all that madness.:p

Paying big money to 2 wide receivers in this offense doesn't make sense. Maybe bring in some better WR scouts from Pittsburgh instead, because a 3rd on Posey is still making me vomit in my mouth.

Doesn't look like the WRs taking ahead of him are doing MUCH better than he is

You wouldn't trade Posey or Brooks straight up for Dwayne Bowe?

I think that's a cop-out on many levels; namely, if Schaub is healthy, they probably overcome that and win, thus underscoring the importance of talent.

I think the Texans can win the AFC right now as constructed. But if *one* thing goes wrong - a stray Albert Haynesworth stomp; a gimpy Andre Johnson groin... *That*, to me, is of far greater concern than a player not executing on game day. And loading up additional plan Bs can augment that significantly.

Well, the Patriots are the Patriots because Tom Brady is their QB and Bill Bellicheck is their head coach. They've actually been squandering and wasting draft picks for years, trading some for more next year, drafting a host of defensive fail....

I agree: dynastys are toppled by shutting down the pipeline. We all just watched it happen to the Astros. But it requires an accumulation of Dwayne Bowe-like moves before you start to chip away. One third rounder? The foundation may sway a bit - but it's sturdier than that.

Don't forget that, as it stands now and hopefully stands at the end of the season, a Texans 3rd rounder will basically be a 4th rounder.

If there was ever a year to trade away draft picks, it would be a year when we are very likely to end up picking at the bottom of every round.

Completely agree that if there was ever a year to give up a pick in a trade this is it. You are gunning for the superbowl and you have a pathway to get there.

Your road in the AFC looks weak. However, I worry about our ability to hang with the Giants, Packers in the SB. Those offenses can score points so quick and this team isn't built to do that. The lack of additional playmakers at WR will hurt if we get into a shootout with the Giants.

GB can score quickly. The 49ers and Bears can't and the Giants can be contained. Just gotta watch Eli and Cruz in the fourth and have safety help on his side.

Eventually the Texans are going to have to find a suitable replacement for AJ, and I'd rather that happen before things fall apart than after.

    But don't give up Tate!

Seriously, though, it all comes down to solid drafting. What positions do the Texans have trouble drafting for? That's where free agency and trades come in.

I don't think so. Are you? If we had let Jake Delhomme take over we might have actually beaten the Ravens. TJ Yates is a scrub, plain and simple.

Personally id send a 4th which is good value around the leaugue... demeco was had for a 4th... besides lets say there is cap restrictions, which im sure there is, send them some kind of player who has a sizeable enough salary to keep us under the cap... if its a decent player change the pick th a 5th... if its a crap player compensate with either a 6th or a 7th...

Bowe puts up big stats with Cassell throwing to him (now Quinn) he would be sick with Matt throwing him passes. He is better than AJ at this point, but of course how would the Texans pay him?
