According to the preseason, The Lakers are the worse team in the NBA. Man, Steve Nash, Kobe, and Dwight are so overrated, can't even win preseason games where it matters the most. Jack Nicholson is pissing his pants.

Based on what are said on this forum, some Lin fans treat Lin like a religion, fanatic, over-zealous, over-protective, extremely senstitive to any criticism, even constructive criticisms. Lin seemed to act like that in Asia this summer as well, with a 10-bodyguard entourage and some attitude. Back to reality and challenges at hand! Don't let this get into your head! Lin fans, try not to ruin the goodwill he used to have when he was an underdog!

He is good at running the pick and roll but it seems McHale doesn't really want that in the offense.

Can anyone tell me what Lowry's beef with McHale was ? Does McHale not like the pg to have too much of the ball ? Lin's usage is very low in all these games.

I thought McHale was known to be a pick n roll coach? I really haven't seen much of it in these preseason games. No one on the Rox seems to be good at setting screens.

Sometimes it's frustrating to see Lin struggling, and then people bashing him on his weaknesses while turning a blind eye to his strengths. But then, isn't all the fun watching his game coming from not expecting him to perform yet being constantly surprised by his performance?

All the bashing, I think, adds to the ultimate joy, doesn't it?

Webattorney, you made some good points. The after effects of the knee injury could in fact be the reason he's been shooting so poorly. Fair play for being rational about Jeremy.

I'll lay off for now until about 5-10 games into the season.

Lowry's beef with McHale among other things was that he felt he was get singled/unfairly critized by McHale and he didn't like the way McHale handled the situation/treated him when he came back (too) early from his virus infection.

The Rockets actually did run lots of pick&roll last year. I have no idea what in the world they are doing this year.
Granted, I've only watched about three quarters of preseason, but some of those sets they run are downright terrible. Good luck with those dribble-handoffs and single option pin-downs with no spacing whatsover.

I gave McHale a pass for running a simplistic offense last year, having no training camp and all, but I sure am starting to have my doubts about him as an offensive mind.

(And no, I am not making excuses for Jeremy Lin. He needs to play better, period. Being put in better situations to succeed might help, though.)

According to the above, Mark Cuban thinks Lin could be another Steve Nash in the RIGHT system, which leads to the question: Which system is ideal for Lin to reach his full potential? But it's very rare for any NBA player to play in an ideal system for his game, so maybe some players like Jordan would have been great in any system, whereas some players like Nash would have been great in only a certain type of system, I don't know.

I don't think the after effects of the knee injury is solely to blame. I think he just is fitting into the new system, has more stress to meet the new challenge and is thinking too much and is in the process of making new adjustments, etc. But having said all that, I do think his jump shots need more work for sure.

Well we are number 1 offense according to nba.com/statistics. Take it for what it's worth considering it's preseason.

Lin wanted to come to houston. He repeatedly stated that he was comfortable with Coach McHale his system & he called it winning basketball. He knew what he was getting into so I won't start blaming McHale. Lin has to get his scoring touch back that is all. Aside from that he has been pretty solid as a floor general & as a defender. Have the Rockets put in there full playbook yet?

I watched the game again, few times that Lin drove to basket, both Asik rolled and Jones came in from the weak side. Lin got blocked twice and other he tried to dump the ball to Jones which was on the paint close to the circle. The spacing was not there.
Jeremy also instead of going strong and straight to the basket, was also looking for contact first which caused him to miss or change his mind for a turnover.
Both are at fault. Mchale got them moving the ball, but spacing is still not optimal. Jeremy got to stop picking up his dribble unless he has clear path, where he has to go up strong and not wait and expect contacts.

The Hornets got 2 7-footer in the game and they try to load the paint every time Lin drive . They know Lin try to drive and than kick out so the Hornet play the pass too.
Everyone need to relax.. everything is gonna be okay.

Not really. McHale is more known as a "whatever the players are good at, I want to do something else" coach, because, to him, all players are whiny btches who are in desperate need to be taken down a peg. If I had to use one word to describe McHale's coaching/managing style, I think the word I would use would be "insecure."

Ok. So i was watching rocketscast & apparently they haven't even implemented the full play book yet. Apparently, it took guys longer to figure things out so McHale wasn't able to put everything in. That is telling.

I have notice that too. I hardly see any pick n roll but a lot of hand off. yesterday I saw a few pick and roll with Asik and Lin.
