25 Games in NY -> What can you say from such a small sample size 5 Pre-season games post injury ->Hes **** uuuuuh.
whatever, we honestly have all the time in the world to wait it out What Lin does this year literally won't matter in the grand theme of things of this franchise other than which position we draft.
When you have lower leg njuries, the last thing to come back is your shot. Its hard to get used to using your legs on your shot. Z-bo and ray allen were struggling last yr with even their free throws after coming back.
I see what you did there. But seriously, as long as Lin is penetrating, then I'm not worried. Being able to penetrate is his main skill, certainly something that most PGs like Douglas or Felton don't have. The finishing and assists will come when he gets his timing.
It is just so bizarre how ppl make such a big deal about Lin's contract, as if it's some max contract. Why is this same scrutiny applied to no one else, only Lin? Do you have any idea how much Martin makes? 12 million this year. Delfino makes 3 million, yet they basically shot the same efficiency today. I see no one hating on Martin's contract bc Delfino shot just as well as he did. Martin shot 6-13 FG, 3-6 3PT. Delfino 7-15, 4-9 3PT. Over the regular season, is Martin supposed to shoot 4 times more efficiently than Delfino bc he makes 4 times the money? Of course not, but only Lin's contract is up for scrutiny and comparison. What's up with that? Moreover, why the heck should any fan care how much Lin gets paid -- it ain't your money that's being spent. The only thing that should matter to a fan is whether a player's contract prevents the team from acquiring a star player and pieces to make the team a contender. Lin's contract does not prevent that, so why are people so hot and bothered about it? It's not even a max contract but a very typical one for starting PGs in this league.
I do care. I understand why Lin's preseason performance would worry some fans, but I have complete faith in him. Considering what he has gone thru to be where he is today, Lin is not going to give up. There is definitely some anomosity/bashing/doubt here on the site, but there are many of us who care still. Cheers.
and then, according to Lin, "hopefully the dam breaks loose." I'm still waiting for my dam to break loose. Damn beavers.
Why wouldnt I care about the progress of my team? Isnt Morey the one who never over spends for free agents? Well thats exactly what he did with Jeremy Lin. Thats disappointing as a fan. Especially knowing we downgraded for non basketball related reasons. Again, Shaun Livingston is currently outplaying our gteat cash cow right now. We could possibly be the laughing stock of the nba if Lin doesn't turn things around
Getting paid a bunch of money won't magically make him heal faster or get his shot back. Anyone who's ever played basketball and has dealt with a surgery knows that everything is off and needs to be rebalanced. Even after you get your conditioning back, it takes time to be able to get your coordination and timing back, not to mention being able to make hard cuts. People need to calm down and be happy that it's still preseason. He's gonna be fine in a month's time once he regains his coordination and confidence in his body.
Chris Paul had similar surgery (though maybe his condition was worse? I'm not sure) and it took him a while to get his groove back. I guess Jeremy Lin is a special case with a unique story, and everything he does or doesn't do has to be scrutinized by both fans and haters. To be fair, lots of players lose a step after injury and get hated on until they regain it -- "he's finished" or "trade him now." Jeremy is inexperienced, injury or not. What he's going to be, I don't think we will truly see for at least a couple of years.
Isn't Lin only making $5mil this yr? How did Morey overpay? Only $5mil goes into Lin's pocket this year. Goran has the richer/longer contract. And it's not YOUR team, it's the team you root for. You don't have to pay the players.
I see your point but that is not what the Rockets are trying to do. The point is to disrupt the passing lanes, wreak havoc and run. Lin's been doing a great job on that front as expected. He's creating tons of deflections, charges, outright thievery and creating the type of defense that Mchale wants from Lin. But of course noone's gonna talk about that. It's onto another weakness then another then another... Watch, soon, he's going to be scoring much more, and these same people are going to put him down saying that he is a shoot first pg, and should pass the ball rather than shoot.
Those who've made up their minds about Lin are suffering from confirmation bias. They see what they want to see. I saw this alot in New York. I remember watching one game and people were complaining that Lin was a TO machine that night. He had 2 TO's in total. Another night someone posted that Lin was shooting poorly. He was shooting over 50%. If you think Lin is awful, every off night is proof that he's awful. If you think Lin is good, every good thing he does is proof of his skillset. It's really hard to debate with people on the extreme edges, as they tend to look only at the moment instead trying to step back and look at the context. That said, Lin had his own take on tonight... http://blog.chron.com/ultimaterocke...appy-with-the-steady-progress-of-the-rockets/ Me? I'm just going to sit back and see how the regular season plays out. It's probably best if everyone takes a breath and does the same, otherwise good or bad, the most extreme posters on onse side or another will get alot of "I told you so's"...
