I wonder if I lot of Houston people have an inferiority complex about NY and are just mimicking the New York media in their over the top criticism of Lin.

I agree with that. Criticism should be allowed. It's like the Warren Moon/Cam Newton thing. If all criticism is supposedly 'racist,' then no one can say anything. I don't think that's a good situation.

It could be. I do think there are some people who think Lin is the basketball version of Kim Kardashian, but he's not. He would not have been able to do what he did last year if he were that.

He's hurt, or recovering, and his confidence is a bit down and he's in a new situation. Just give him some time, I think.

    pcheung08 -- Thanks! :)

Kim Kardashian of basketball? Lmao. Lin made his fame from his superb performance on the court, and his work ethic and humbleness. Pretty much the opposite of how Kim achieved her fame.

Sigh, no use arguing with haters...

Also no one is saying criticism is not allowed, someone said Lin should be a backup PG? Fine, that's your opinion, but a valid one nonetheless. But saying Lin is undeserving and saying his story sucks just reeks of haterness...

I agree, Lin earned what he got.

Is he the right guy in the right place at the right time, too? Sure. The league needs someone like him to help open up the Asian market, I think. But if he didn't have the talent and guts to do what he did last year, no one would care about him now and he'd be another Yi Jianlian.

Lin made his own luck. I don't think that spark is gone, it's just covered up right now with injury and a new system.

Lin has plenty of things to work on. But he's young and talented and I don't see why he can't improve those things. Don't kid yourself -- this guy is athletic. He may not be Russell Westbrook athletic, but he's very athletic. He has real talent.

    You are welcome.

Criticism is certainly allowed but in a good and reasonable manner In regards to JLin's shooting woes, it seems to me that he tried to do much by distributing the ball to others which is not a bad thing. He needs to shoot more in order to get into rhythm and gain confidence.

Yeah, he does seem more intent on distributing the ball than scoring right now. But I think he will be more like that now in this system, with these players. Houston has a lot more scorers on its team than New York did last year. Jeremy can still score, but he doesn't have to score as much, I don't think. My guess is his assists will be up, and his points will be down. That's ok with me.

    You're welcome.

I've been following Lin very closely since the Linsanity run last year. Studying him, his game. He has a lot of ability. I think if he can just get past this knee issue and work on some things, he'll be fine. This is a new offensive system for him, maybe one that is not as good for his game as what D'Antoni did. But that just means Lin can work to round out other parts of his game. Which will make him a better overall player.

Once again he doesn't need to score. When it is one guy carrying the offensive load it is so easy to defend. Plus teams no that he can score the basketball so they are going to make it harder for him to do that hence the increase in passing. The fact that he has the smarts to be able to recognize that and adjust is positive, most young players are stubborn & don't like to change. A team is a lot more dangerous when you have multiple guys carrying the offensive burden. If he is getting a lot of assits and playing good defense with not many points I would be pleased. The issue now is scoring enough to keep the defense honest. Teams are going to start taking away his passing lanes & forcing him to score/ shoot so he needs to figure it out. Likely he will.

as of now, in order for the team to win, he needs to score more to keep the opposition at bay. he is a natural scorer and we have no time to turn him into a natural pg with the current roster. if we are a veteran team, then may be, or if we want to tank the season. then well.

I think he's working his way back into shape. He had a pretty good mid jumper and also a good floater last year. He hasn't try any of those shots at all in these preseason games. Looks like he is working on his driving to the basket and then working on finishing. Anyways, the thing is that even when Lin doesn't have a good offensive night, he's able to contribute in different ways, particularly defense, passing, running the offence. Alot of players if they are contributing offensively don't/won't help much,

Actually he has good shooters in Martin and Delfino. Also Parsons can score. He can also run the pnr with Asik depending on the defense. There is enough offence that he doesn't need to be the first option. It's only if his shooters have a bad night that it will be a problem. So far it hasn't been a big problem. We'll see what happens in the regular season when the starters are playing a lot more.

Don't blame it on the system.

Lin has had as many chances to score as the other players have, except he's not making them. That in turn affected his confidence. Lin doesn't have the legs yet, so his long ball attempts are always short. And his lay-ups just don't have the right spin; he's just throwing them up there.

When the regular season starts, will his shot come back? How long will the coaches and Les Alexander be patient with him? We'll see ...

Good all around game tonight. If this team can play D like this, it's going to be hard to tank. TJones has been very impressive, wish my Wolves would've kept the pick. A steal at 18:mad:. Though Air Bud has been great so far, reuniting with Adleman an all.

Royce missing camp has really hurt him. Asik, wow, how did the Bulls not match? This guy is already a top 5 center in the league, yeah I said it.

LOL, I've been called a LOF, and even I think the amount of the conversation surrounding Lin is ridiculous. He had a bad game, sure, I'll be the first to admit that. But really, there were some positive signs that came from this game. Livingston looked great, Parsons was very solid, and Martin got hot in the 2nd half. What abourt Jones starting for Patterson, he did better than I thought he would. Jesus, by how these past few pages have gone, I would've thought the Rockets lost.
