Rubio is already considered a very good PG averaging 11/8, but not Lin who average 14/7 last year.

Of course stats do matter, but if a PG can easily pad his stats, especially points, instead of passing to more open teammates.

Man this BackNthDay is a straight up idiot. I'd post Lin's advanced stats but they'd be wasted on him. Who is this chump to lay out some impossible stat line for someone to attain? Lin has his crazy fans, but also downright crazy haters in equal measure.

He averaged 18/7.7 playing starter's minutes. Granted, it was only a 25 game sample size.

i don't see how Knicks gotten any better now than how they were before Linsanity. sure, Fatty is a bit of an improvement over Douglas but that's about it. they've gotten older. Net's haven't gotten any better either.. they've added an iso player like Melo and to me that takes away from team play. i don't see how any of these two teams are being hyped so much as a "contender".. maybe a contender for the last playoff spot in the east. lol.

Felton does probably carry a grudge, but he isn't wrong either.

BTW Felton has been stinking up the preseason big time. Chucking bricks and definitely not the great passer the Knicks were angling for. He's got some huge shoes to fill this year. The Garden's gonna boo him something fierce.

Yeah, I know. He even average better stats than Dragic last year, but Dragic is a legit starter, but not Lin.

I think he's been adequate, same as Lin. I really hope Lin gets his shot back...

On a rookie-heavy team like this, expect Lin's play to be drastically different. He's gonna be looking to get his guys their shots first, score second. Lin's last game at 7 pts, 12 assts, 5 boards and 4 steals is pretty much what this team needs. Well, a few more points don't hurt - and he's working on his shooting too. $8 million is a bargain for a PG of his caliber.

The funny thing is even many of Lin fans are expecting unreasonably high performance from him. IMO 12 points and 9 assists (or 14 points and 8 assists), if achieved by end of this season, do justify his salary of 8 mill per year. Those are fine numbers.

I agree, but you can't use one pregame to think that will be how he will play. What do you think his numbers will be per game next year?

Agreed. Lin fans expect a repeat of his performances last year. Don't get me wrong: he was amazing to watch, but I definitely don't want him to be the primary scorer on this squad. His last game, I think, is the perfect model to go by as a goal for the year. Not saying 12 assists necessarily but if that's what the opponent is giving you, you take it. He was pulling out +10 APG last year like it was a walk in the freaking park. If he can get 12/9 or 14/8 as you say, this team will be golden.

Put that in my last reply ...

BTW another reason his stats dropped a bit after Woodson took over was because the Knicks were actually blowing out teams, and Lin was able to sit early in the games with Davis and Bibby taking over and sharing minutes.

As you noted, there are some whacko haters but also too high or wishful expectations by Lin lovers. I happen to think Lin can achieve 14/8 per game if he can knock down 45% of his jumpers.

I also think his numbers dropped under Woodson because Lin had to adapt to a different style.
