Why don't we just wait and see how Lin does before declaring conclusively whether he is a superstar, all star, back up or just decent. Nobody can see the future so stop acting like you can. Thus far he has proving that he is a solid starting pg in the NBA and has a work ethic to indicate that he will only get better. Whether he gets better or not will determined overtime until then at least try pretend to support him (calling him a one hit wonder is the opposite of being supportive) seeing as how he is the starter of this team.

Nope, I'm saying earn your $8 mln young man and the stats I quoted will go a long way towards doing that. Plus, don't get ate up every time u face an elite PG... So, it's no value to the Rockets if he's hitting the stat line I quoted and giving up 20 pts, 8 asts, nightly against the PG's I mentioned previously.

Conley nor Dragic classify as elite pg's. And if Lin gets eating up by elite PG's I could care less as long as he has a good game offensively to help the team enough so that they win.

never got a chance watch Dragic play, but I had a chance watch a couple of Felton's game. Before I saw his game, I heard people said Felton is better player than Lin and more experience. But I trusted my own eyes. Knicks games style is changed from last season , very slow and bored.

From now on, I don't let people tell me what and who is good and bad. I choice the game I love to watch and that tell it all..

Ok if Conley or Dragic isn't elite, then I set Lin's stat bar slightly higher than Conley's. So if his stats don't equate then the evidence is legit, he's a career backup and very good backup. However, at $8 mln isn't the smartest decision in the world.

Stats for PGs individually don't really indicate much. As long as the offense is efficient, flowing, and leads to wins, then that means the PG is legit.

I disagree, stats of your PG can tell a lot about your teams winning percentage. Especially when compared to the PG's mpg.

I am hoping that Lin is an average started in the NBA, with about a 6 year career. That would be great for a person that was undrafted. Not many players who are undrafted ever start in a NBA game, or last in the league more than 2-3 years.

Lin hasn't played a single regular season game for Rockets and someone is already saying he is not starter material. As roxxy said, let's wait a bit longer before jumping into this kind of conclusion.
Don't forget he is a Rocket. Let's show him some support.

I think your expectation is fair, but I think Lin will beat that. I happen to think he is a decent starter, not a decent back up. I think he will end up averaging 12 points and at least 8 assists per game.

I think he really needs to be 20/8 or 15/10 in order to meet expectations. It's debatable which will lead to more wins. He'll get 20/8 if he stops deferring to Kmart and 15/10 if Kmart has an All star caliber year.

20/8 is Chris Paul numbers. 15/10 is better than Rondo's numbers last year. Lin doesn't need to produce close to those numbers to be worth the 8.3 mill per.

Players that were better than 18/7 last season and their contracts for this year:
    Chris Paul ($17,779,458)
    Tony Parker ($12,500,000)
    Derrick Rose ($16,402,552)
    Deron Williams ($17,177,795)

Players that were better than 14/9 last season and their contracts for this year:
    Chris Paul ($17,779,458)

Those expectations sound totally reasonable and fair.

Whatever, "Target on his back." Sheesh.

Jeremy Lin probably says Felton has a Walmart on his back.

Shows you how Lin as an Asian has to play so much better to be considered good. This just shows the biases.

Let me put those figures in perspective:
    - Only Rondo and Nash had 10+ apg last season, and they both averaged less than 15 ppg.
    - 10+ apg only achieved 73 times in the history of NBA.
    - Only 12 players in the whole NBA averaged more 20 ppg last season.
    - only ONE PG had 20/8 or 15/10 stats; DWiliam with 21/8.7

Are you seriously expecting him to have a 20/8 or 15/10 season??? Asian parents syndrome?:grin:
