Clutch, that's what they told me at first that it's available on 1755. Then they got back to me and said that was a wrong info. then they put me on hold again for 5 mins and that when they told me that it will be available after pre-seaon games. looks for Destiny. she helped on the phone.
Batman, you are on fire! Awesome! Agree with everything you said today. I will pay the extra $7 to U-Verse if this is true.
Batman Jones, I have a lot of reasons not to like Les, too. But the Astros actually own more of CSN. We can't be for certain the Les is the only one to blame, here, and likely isn't. We could guess that the Astros won't care about negotiating for the Rockets season until the baseball season begins.
heypartner: Apparently you did not get the memos. They state, unequivocally, that I am "on fire" and that Longhorn Fan would rep me a lot of times if he could. Maybe rather than reasonably disagreeing with me you should just rep me instead. TIA.
There will be hell to pay if NBA League Pass has no Rockets games when season starts. HELL TO PAY I TELL YOU! HELL TO PAY! HELL! OH HELL!
What does it matter who owns what percentage? We built stadiums for both the Astros and Rockets. We didn't build any hundred million dollar buildings for UVerse, Dish, or Direct TV to my knowledge. None of those companies have the word Houston in their names. Nobody spends money to wear UVerse garb around. Nobody pays $10 parking and $6 for a coke while they watch UVerse. Les is a greedy a-hole as evidenced by the hockey situation in this city, as evidenced by the way he's now trying to buy the Dynamo apparently after a new stadium has been built for them, as evidenced by the way he whored out the franchise for the Chinese market and no doubt how he'll do it for Jeremy Lin. He's all about dollar signs and let's face it, this franchise sucks. They've been out of the first round of the playoffs one time in 15 years? Really? That's Clipper'esque. Who knows if Crane will be as big an a-hole but let's be clear, this is a guy who sold out 50 years of tradition for a discount to buy the team. I'm disgusted by it all and I'm not paying another freaking cent for coverage of either team. I've been a fan since about '82. Every year it's the ramping up of money for these greedy bastards. I'm not going to be a part of it anymore.
So, basically you get the channel and are going to save $3 per month. I wonder how uverse can afford to do this and pay the huge fee that Les is charging them for the channel?
Ugh, I just upgraded to U300 now this. Is it a month to month thing i.e. it can be cancelled after the NBA season is over? Because I'm no baseball fan and $84 bucks a year for a few Rockets games while cheaper then going to bars every game isn't exactly attractive.
October 23, 2012: Fan's Log Checking clutchfans to see if any good news has arrived. Nothing. Still disappointed, will check again Tom.
Exactly. Like I've been saying all along, if it were just one provider (like Dish and FSN a few years ago), I would totally blame the provider. But all three??? No. That tells me it's all on Comcast. At the risk of sounding overly dramatic, I will answer this question by saying that some of us have principles. I happen to believe the three major providers are being extorted by Comcast, so why would I sign a Comcast petition telling them to give in to extortion? Goes against my principles. I didn't want to make this about basketball, but yeah, I agree with all of this. I've been saying for years this team needs to quit perpetually chasing that unattainable carrot, get some young guys to build around and watch them grow. It appears that's finally what we're going to do with all these draft picks...then Les goes after that flash-in-the-pan Lin. That move right there tells you what Les's motives are. International marketing is more important than winning. I'm still looking forward to seeing all our young guys this season, but I don't think for a minute that Morey isn't already looking for a way to ship them all out for Pau Gasol.
I don't have a beef in this Comcast matter, but I don't get how Les picking up a 24 year old point guard precludes using the draft picks, especially since none of them are point guards ( and I'll laugh in your face if you say Machado like he's actually worth a damn).
I believe whoever was talking to Prince made a mistake. If UVerse obtained the rights to this channel, they'd be publicizing that like crazy in an effort to retain subscribers and get new ones. They're absolutely silent.
I was kind of wondering the same thing. Plus, if Lin is just a flash in the pan, why would that affect our draft status for next year? If he's good enough to lead this squad to playoff contention OHNOESWHYDOWEHAVESUCHAYOUNGANDGOODPGONOURTEAM?!?!?!
FYI...I'm in an online chat with a Uverse rep right now....other than asking what she's wearing, I'm asking: "Will Uverse be offering Houston Comcast SportsNet as a channel option?" If she says, "yes," I'm going to tell her I'm putting on my wizard's hat. I'll keep you all updated by editing this post. EDIT: Here's a copy/paste of what she had to say...doesn't look good. (Obviously I replaced my first name with MadMax for copying here) Please wait for an AT&T U-verse agent to respond. We will be requesting your Online Order Number, Billing Account Number or your full name and zip code. You are now chatting with 'Michelle' Michelle: Hi MadMax. Michelle: It looks like you may have questions about your U-Verse account. How may I help you? MadMax: Two questions...first, will Uverse be offering Houston Comcast SportsNet as a channel option? Michelle: I'd be happy to check that, just a moment. Michelle: We offer Comcast SportsNet channels with the HD Premium Tier feature. The channels we offer are for the Bay Area, California, Chicago, and New England. I don't see the Houston market being available, I'm sorry. MadMax: One final question..sorry! MadMax: I was told by a friend that he contacted someone with Uverse and they said that channel 1753 would be the Comcast Houston SportsNet channel. Any information on why he would have been told that? Michelle: I will be right with you. MadMax: Thanks! Michelle: I'm sorry for the delay. I'll be right with you. Michelle: Thank you for your patience MadMax. Michelle: There's no indication of when or if we're going to get Comcast SportsNet Houston, I'm sorry. I wish I could say why your friend was told some thing different, I'm sorry.
