I feel like I should be on a commercial! So pumped up right now. That is what happens when you get a screw job from an insurance company for two years, and you finally decide to switch. Edit: And I didn't switch to Geico.
$130 a MONTH???? How much were you paying? We've got 2 cars and we're paying $117 total for the both of them - full coverage. Are you're 18 with a DWI and two speeding tickets in the last year or something?
We pay $122 for the two of ours, and that is with an accident still on my wife's record. Our vehicles are also 2007s, so full coverage isn't as much, but each is still worth $10-12k. Edit: According to his profile, he turned 25 in August. If that hadn't been factored in under his previous plan, but was for his new, that could be a big reason for the rate change.
Basically, I was getting screwed over. When I got the insurance, it was on a brand new car, and I was 22. I was also driving 58 miles, one way, to work. I called and told them I was paying too much(over $180/month), and wanted a discount. They told me they couldn't even give me a discount for being 25. I told them I would look elsewhere, and hung up. I had a huge smile when I called back to cancel the policy. No accidents, or tickets on my record, either.
I'm 23 with three speeding tickets and a wreck, I pay 110. Bought a 2011 Corolla cause I damn sure wasn't about to pay insurance like I did on my camaro. Or pay for repairs. Or gas.
Kudos for looking for and getting a better rate. I hope your not having to drive that far for work anymore.
Are you sure your car just didn't depreciate that much in two years. Mine went down significantly as well after my car turned two.
Holy crap, you guys are paying a lot. I pay like $350 per year for liability. Every now and then it's good to be old.
