Denver GM flies to Houston to personally junk punch Morey for having the nerve to extend this offer.

Atlanta trades: Josh Smith, Anthony Morrow
Atlanta receives: Kenneth Faried, Wilson Chandler, Patrick Patterson, Carlos Delfino
Why? Atlanta is rebuilding and Smith has already said he's opting out. Atlanta gets a legit young stud in Faried, a quality starter in Chandler and solid big in Patterson in return.

Denver trades: Kenneth Faried, Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mosgov
Denver receives: Josh Smith, Toney Douglas
Why? Denver gets a legitimate frontcourt star in Smith that will fit perfectly in Karl's uptempo offense, and makes a great shot-blocking tandem with McGee. They are arguably too deep at the moment, and upgrading would be the ideal move.

Chicago trades: Carlos Boozer, 2013 1st
Chicago receives: Kevin Martin, Marcus Morris
Why? Chicago sheds Boozer's terrible contract while retaining their amnesty clause. In return, they gain an SG who would help greatly once Rose returns - not to mention he's 12 mil expiring to provide flexibility.

Houston trades: Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson, Marcus Morris, Carlos Delfino, Toney Douglas
Houston receives: Timofey Mosgov, Anthony Morrow, CHI 2013 1st, Carlos Boozer
Why? Houston buys out Boozer's contract, sheds dead weight in Morris, Douglas and Delfino, gains another pick (mid-1st) and gets a young backup C and a shooter.

    Asik - Mosgov - (Motiejunas)
    T.Jones - Motiejunas - White
    Parsons - (White) - Forbes
    Morrow - Lamb
    Lin - Machado - Livingston

This team would develop the young guys, secure a top-5 pick, and attain Toronto's and Chicago's 2013 picks.

Milwaukee has Dalembert and Pryzbilla at the 5. Then Ilyasova and Gooden at the 4. Luc plays some 4 as well. Plus they just got Henson.

Udoh or Sanders could be had.

Morris or White for Udoh or Sanders.

Dan Gadzuric was just waived today by Sixers. I think he'd make a great pickup. Good locker room guy with defensive mindset.

    Interesting.

Take White off the table and then it becomes real interesting.

Morri for Udoh or Sanders. They'd probably take Udoh off the table.

    Morris for Sanders. Interesting.

I really don't get the desire for a backup center, just for the sake of it.
This team isn't going anywhere as is anyway, so what's the point of brining in a guy like Udoh or Sanders? Those guys aren't very good, nor do they have high upside. Play one of the PFs out of position and be done with it.

Now if there's another Omer Asik or Marcin Gortat out there that's another story. I just don't think that guy is out there this year.

    I doubt Sanders is available.

But if he was, I'd take any of those deals in a blink.

I'd much rather develop a raw big with great physical tools who's already shown some impressive things in the NBA, especially on defense. And who seems made for the running style that McHale wants to install. And who's also a need.

At least not at this time of year, according to Morey's interview on 790 this morning. He said that teams don't trade away capable centers before the season starts when pretty much every team is trying to be competitive-- guys tend to become available later when a team sucks and the front office gives up on the season (this is how the Rockets got Camby from Portland).

I love that Denver-Atlanta idea. As long as Smith agrees to resign there, it makes sense for both.

Chicago-Houston kills Houston. Buyout is not the same as amnesty btw.
Chicago can amnesty Boozer and get his contract (all 47 mil) off their books.
You can negotiate a buyout, lets say he agrees to 40 mil, then that 40 mil is still on your books.

True. I was going to say we can amnesty Booz, but the amnesty clause only applies to pre-existing contracts with the team they were on when the deal went into place.

Gives us a young big with potential, fits the youth movement. Marvin Williams is just a contract.

No me gusta. Favors isn't a center, and there's no reasons for us to take on Williams contract. Favors will be good, but probably not worth Motiejuanas, salary relief and a first round pick.

It depends on what's the pick going to be like and who you get there.
If it's #10 or so or it gets postponed, it's a great deal for Houston.

Favors is a center, imo. Physically, he's very similar to Alonzo Mourning.
His skills aren't close to a typical PF offensively and he has more than enough talent and athleticism defensively for both positions.

I don't see Utah wanting that deal, though.

You think morey would trade Brockman, Livingston, and Johnson for draft picks

Not likely because the other team would probably rather wait and see if the Rockets cut the player they really want first.

Livingston & Douglas will have value later in the season because his contract can offer a team some cap relief, however the Rockets would be taking back salary from a team over the cap.

For example, Here's a trade scenario with Detroit that you might be able to do in this instance-

Rockets trade-T. Douglas, J. Johnson, Brockman
Rockets recieve- J. Maxiell, 2nd round pick

-The Rockets get a 2nd round pick for 3 players not in the Rockets long term plans, and recieve Maxiell in return who can provide some minutes in the post this season, and is an expiring contract

-Detroit sheds 1 Mil in salary, and has a trade exception to absorb the 2 additional contracts of Johnson & Brockman. Also they might have interest in Johnson as a high upside project. Who knows.

So this gives you an idea of what you can do with these players for a draft pick. To me, other than "Some" potential cap savings, there really isn't much value these players have in a trade unless they are part of a much, much bigger trade involving a max contract type of player.

Here's another one that might be able to benefit both teams-

    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=9xy3psj

-I dont think the Bobcats really have a draft pick that fits for a trade like this. Maybe a 2014 2nd rounder.

-Rockets gain a backup center(albeit a bad one), and trim the roster back to the 15 needed.

-Bobcats get cap space savings of over 1 Mil, and get 2 higher upside youngsters in Johnson & Smith. Livingston & Brockman would likely be cut right away to trim their roster back to their needed amount.
