Winner, winner.... chicken dinner... Let us not forget Ryan's comments at the VP debate concerning NOT withdrawing troops....
I wasn't suggesting Romney should argue for expanding the Afghan war. Rather Romney needs to point out the failures in both Afghanistan and Iraq. Firstly, Iraq is falling into the hands of Iran. I don't think most people are against having a base and strong military presence there ("non-combat role"). That's a failure on Obama's negotiating skills. Secondly Afghanistan surge was Obama's strategy and it has failed. Lastly, he can point out the icy relationship Obama has had with Israel (well at least the media portrays it as though it is, but in reality the relationship has never been stronger). Obama's strategy will be to repeatedly point out the OBL takeout and his tough stance on terrorists in Pakistan. I don't see too many other positives. I guess he'll also point out Libya but there has been quite a bit of negative news coming out from that country in the last few weeks.
I don't think Romney wants to talk about Afghanistan or Iraq because he pretty much agrees with Obama's policy. I think we've already seen Romney's attack lines on foreign policy, the situation with Libya, chaos from Arab Spring, taking a harder line on Iran, the PRC, and increased defense spending.
Oh, and they'll bring up the false "apologizing for America" crap again. They may as well say, "President Obama sent Reverend Wright as a look-a-like stand-in overseas to apologize for America and also say God Damn America! several hundred times. In fact Hillary has now hired Wright as her main international spokesperson." That's about as true, so why not?
Something else to keep in mind while watching tonight's debate: Mitt Romney's foreign policy team: 17 of 24 Advisors Are Bush Neocons. One of Romney's top surrogates is John freakiin' Bolton. The Romney-Cheney Doctrine Mitt Romney's a big fan of George W. Bush's vice president. And that's a worrying sign for America's foreign policy.
The final presidential debate is tonight, and then down the stretch we come. A month ago, the media was anticipating that this debate would be a mismatch between that foreign policy giant Barack H. Obama, who 'bestrides the world like a colossus,' and Mitt Romney, a bungling fool with no foreign policy experience, whose proverbial '15 minutes' of fame will be pretty much over with once Obama gets finished with him. How times have changed. LOL. Now Obama is on the ropes with regards to his mishandling of the situation in Libya which resulted in our Ambassador being killed along with three others. There was controversy after the the second debate, moderated by Candy Crowley, when she jumped in to assist the President with regards to this very question. Of course there have been protests and attacks against US embassies throughout the Middle East, and there is some confusion about whether Obama is going to announce new 'talks' with Iran in the closing days of this campaign, just before the election. It seems unlikely that as many people will watch this debate as the previous ones, especially with a National League Championship game seven and Monday Night Football competing for viewers. And with all the controversy about the moderators in the first three debates, especially the Candy Crowley debacle, it seems likely that tonight's moderator Bob Scheiffer is likely to be quite a lot more understated in his conduct that Candy Crowley was. I expect there will be some nice jabs and parries between the candidates, but that both of them will be striving to appear more presidential in this debate than they did in the last one. Viewership will be down, and it is unlikely that this debate will move many voters. In fact, this debate may well turn out to be regarded as a bit of a snoozer, especially compared to the other three debates. From the Washington Post:
So basically he should make a nuanced, hard to prove argument (different from anything he's made before) that requires the audience to have an understanding of multiple background factors about an unpopular subject where the only way to truly distinguish himself is to take an unpopular stance. Hello. Have you ever seen a debate/american politics and how they work?
B-Bob, now that "2016 -- Obama's America" is out for rental I hope you have a chance to watch this video. It really shows why Obama wants to bring down the United States in retaliation for the colonialism Barack Sr. hated (see "Dreams From My Father"). Scary stuff.
You should pay attention to the integrity of the people you follow. Anti-Obama Filmmaker Dinesh D'Souza Resigns Following Affair Accusation Dinesh D'Souza, the evangelical scholar who made a name for himself attacking President Obama in books and a movie, has resigned as president of a New York Christian college following allegations of marital infidelity. D'Souza's departure comes just two days after the Christian magazine "World" reported that the married professor was seen sharing a hotel room and introducing another woman as his fiancee at a recent conference in South Carolina. "After careful consultation with the Board and with Dinesh, we have accepted his resignation to allow him to attend to his personal and family needs. We thank him for his service and significant contribution to the College over the last two years," board chairman Andy Mills said in a statement.
I'm worried about your critical thinking, and ability to distinguish credible accounts of people and events based on this.
You're a republican and that's fine with me. Just don't be so stupid as to believe a word of the garbage spewed in these films. Be better than that.
Didn't promise him, Sammy. I said Morey was in the catbird's seat. And close to the end of the saga, I said Dwight was coming to Houston. I know I had way more information on that than you did. It didn't happen. I admitted it. But look at the totally of the event, son. There was no better trade offer on the table for Orlando. What happened was Martens got his chain rattled by Fegans. That's it. So, because I was wrong there I'm wrong here? What kind of fouled up logic is that? Obama is done, son. Done.
