Anyone have a recommendation around town (inside the loop/galleria)? I have some kitchen and couple other knives that need to be sharpened. Found a guy in the heights area that can do it, but he charges around $15-$20/knife, since he does them by hand with stone and not a grinding machine.

Buy a stone and do it yourself.

Pay for a knife to be sharpened, it will go dull; learn how to sharpen a knife, never a dull moment

This. Or sur la table does it for like a dollar or two per inch.

What kind of knives are they? If they are the basic German(wusthoff, zwilling), I would just find a sharpener with a belt grinder to do it (3-5 bucks). It's not worth the time to sharpen with a stone.

If its a Shun, then send it back to Shun. I think they still sharpen their knives for free.

yeah, it's wusthoff. If they were higher end, I would pay to get it done properly. Dont get me wrong, I like my wustoff knives, but they're no $350+ chef knife.

So Sur La Table will do it? I looked on their site and didn't see anything about it. Guess Ill call and double check first.

I think they have an industrial chef's choice that they do it on. Not that great but it will get your kitchen knife as sharp as they were when they were new (not that sharp).

This. How someone can charge a dollar per inch and have someone pay, I don't know. Get a stone and do it yourself. Watch a youtube if you're afraid of not doing it right. Or take a knife skills class from my wife (link in sig).
