The litmus test for playing ILB in a 3-4 is whether or not you laugh at the idea of said player covering a tight end or pass-catching RB out of the backfield. Reed would be a joke at ILB. He's got no lateral quickness. Dobbins will do fine, and actually I think we won't miss a beat if we can get Sharpton back and have him rotate with Dobbins or James on passing downs just like he did with DeMeco last year.
OP: See op, not crazy at all. Thor v2 and his wavy long hair, that makes scola and samson jealous, were roaming around the middle of the field, covering in certain situations. What the local media experts and internet know it alls forget is that Wade and his beautiful mind coordinate this defense. He has imagination. Wade probably crushes oreos, m&ms over his rocky road ice cream, then tops it off with sprinkles. Just look at the reactions in the threads when Wade first announced Mario would transition to Line backer. The same internet know- it-alls and radio personalities were like, "this is going to be a complete fail", "No chance in hell.too heavy". As soon as Mario began piling up the sacks, hurries and deflecting a pass for Jjo to score his first Td as a texan...those stubborn mo fos changed their tune to, "well, wade runs his 3-4 differently." "Ummm, mario was unevaded, no one blocked him." No S**t, that's what wade does, he puts his defenders in the best position to make plays. I really enjoyed viewing what Wade orchestrated yesterday. We are going to see more new wrinkles as the season progresses. Just three weeks ago, those people(experts) were having orgasms to Flacco and his offense's no huddle. Man do I have a mancrush on son of bum lol. If he placed our punter at olb, I would still believe in his philosophies.
That was just stupid. Only elite quarterbacks can run those kinds of schemes. It's like they're trying to make something out of nothing in Baltimore. Looking at their scheme you'd think they had an elite QB, exceptional WR's and a crappy running back.
conquistador...surprised you brought up this thread again... I too was pleasantly surprised that Reed was out covering in certain situations...and with having a bye week...Reed will only have more time...to sit down with Wade/Cushing and soak more... What i was super thrilled about was seeing Mercilus actually make significant impact in yesterday's game... Only time will tell...but if Reed can do even half of what Cushing can do...i would have a little bit more confidence about the LB core...
Saw Braman get in there towards the end of the game and make a tackle. Looked more like OLB from what I could tell. He's played well on special teams and its nice to see him get some looks with the regular unit.
Word out of the locker room (according to either Pancakes or Lance, I can't remember), while Braman is a physical nightmare and plays with 110% at all times, he's dumb as a box of rocks. The reporter said he just can't seem to get the playbook down and is constantly out of position at practice. It's one thing to say run as fast as you can down the field and hit someone, quite another to say read the offense and put people in the right place.
That makes a lot of sense. Cushings pre snap adjustments, his leadership and confidence are vastly underrated. Couple times i notice on D that the LBs were having a hard time making pre snap adjustments
