True.the cap is calc'ted as $8.3m per year, which prohibits the rockets from acquire another player of $8.3m price tag - thus lin should be evaluated as a $8.3m player ,not a $5(1st)/5(2nd)/15m (3rd)player

^^ should have make it clear, not prohibit, but utilised the rockets cap which could ,theoretically used on another $8.3m player

[Lin definitely needs to get a mean streak. He's letting the trash talking off the court, and the rough fouls on the court push him around, and making him look soft. All that "I play for God" BS is making him a laughing stock like Tebow.

What Lin needs is to drop some F-bombs on the court, do a little trash-talking on his own, and if he gets flagrant fouled hard, he needs to hop right up, bump some chests, and get in someone's face. OTherwise, he's not going to get the respect of anyone in the NBA, not even his teammates.

Just imagining him trash talking is making me lol. He will hopefully let his play do all the trash talking.

Or he could do like Carmelo and hit someone in the face and then run away across the court.

It is not Lin's style. The best way is to win the game.

I think Knicks would be lucky if they advanced to the play off.

Stats won't be able to play half of regular season games due to injuries plus their average/old PGs.

This is a good player capsule on Felton, especially the part that reviews his previous stint at NY, which the Knicks homers think is the 'real' Felton that they will see this year. And it frames Felton's career within the same sample size argument that is often used to dismiss Lin's performance as an anomaly.

Very interesting article. Thanks for the link.

I am pretty disgusted with the Knicks. When the Bulls declined to match Asik, they just released an official statement wishing him well and thanking him. It seems like the normal, boring thing to do. Not the Knicks. They still haven't to this day released a single statement about Lin, and they tried to smear his reputation. I guess I will never figure out why it was necessary. What's wrong with "the contract was too expensive for us, but we wish Jeremy well"?

It is absolutely disgusting smear campaign by the Knicks/MSG brass... The reason is simple actually, they are many Knicks fans who are still ticked off at Dolan and have withdrew their support for the team... The Knicks brand has been tarnished by Lin leaving so they want to try to degrade lin's image. The fact is, it has worked, I have seen many who were huge Lin fans during linsanity come out now to say negative things about Lin, repeating the same zingers that have been spewed by SAS and the other lowly ny media.

Furthermore Carmelo has recruited the likes of Felton and Tyson and even Spike Lee to do his dirty work and smear Lin in interviews....

The fact of the matter is, the Knicks are a team full of thugs, with the exception of Novak. It's still a Boyz club, and they cannot get over how popular Lin was... Knicks will come after Lin in their two meetings this year, and I expect some hard picks and hard fouls on Lin. If Lin has any guts, he needs to anticipate this, and stand up to it. He needs to tell his rockets teammates, "yo guys, I want this!" When them thugs come to town.

I feel bad for Marcus Camby, their front office is full of idiots that lucked into Melo because of his wife and only throw money around without actually thinking of how players fit.

I don't think the preseason really means anything. it's just for evaluating your rookies and new players.

The Melo trade was basically forced through by Dolan. The Knick's previous GM, Donnie Walsh, reportedly quit because of it.

Imagine the Knicks getting Deron Williams instead of the Nets (DWill trade happened basically right after the Melo trade)

Amare+Deron+Dantoni+bunch of good roleplayers = PHX Sun's East. Add Tyson and that looks like a contender.

Instead they now have Amare+Melo-Dantoni-Linsanity+a bunch of old guys. How sad.

Anyone watched the game? I thought Knicks starters played heavy minutes (without Amare of course). Did they try at all or just treating it like an exhibition game?

It is only the preseason. Look at Lakers preseason record and they are a strong team!
