As the NBLPB nears, I'd like to know what home team announcer crews are the best (not national broadcast teams). So, when in doubt which game to watch, pick the one with the better crew.

Who's your favorite team or individuals

Postcall reminded me that I think Walt Frazier is the best color man and the Knicks have the best crew (sorry tinman for not putting this in your Knicks thread :p). And I think Jim Peterson of the Twolves is one of the worst homers in the business.

    Knicks, Warriors have good announcers.

Of the marquee teams, Lakers and Boston. Tommy Heinsohn is so homer its hilarious, and Stu Lantz is just plain entertaining. Of course no one will ever top Chick Hearn, or Joel Meyers for that matter.

BUT, with that said, my favorite of all time has got to be...wait for it...

What? Walt (The Sure Fire Cure for Insomnia) Frazier? He is the exact opposite of Calvin Murphy. He does not come across as biassed but I can never be too sure since he always buts me to sleep. :p

BTW, Bill and Calvin hands down. Can I choose Calvin? I know he is not courtside anymore but when he was he was very entertaining... much more so than Walt.... (Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!)

Speaking of marquee teams...one thing I really hate about Heat home games is the public address voice, Michael Baiamonte.

What is up with saying "Dwaaaaaayne Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaade" for 6-10 seconds. The other team is already past halfcourt and he still hasn't finished. I've seen the shot clock go down to 14 seconds before he was finished. It would drive me nuts if I were a Heat STH.

An NBA gooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllll is not a soccer goal.

    smh

I agree about the Knicks. I like the Raptors. I wish i remembered the crews, though.

Mychal Thompson is a big homer though. Chick Hearn is the only good thing that has ever happened in the Lakers organization.

Jim Petersen is great, don't understand the complaint. Maybe I haven't heard him since their team improved though.

Jim Petersen typically seem pretty even-handed when he does Rockets games. Perhaps because of his past. Also perhaps because he and Kevin McHale have known each other for decades (both starred for the U of Minnesota hoops team).

Back when I used to have to get League Pass to watch Rockets games, I always loved listening to the Lakers commentators. That was when they had Joel Meyers, though. I don't know how they are with their new play-by-play guy (Bill Macdonald, I think his name is). Stu Lantz is still there, I believe... he's great.

Warriors are good as well. Don't know their names, though.
