Don't forget Romney's foreign policy gaffes during his international trip that brought us to the brink of nuclear war with one of our closest allies. You can't have someone so out of step with reality with his finger on the button. The nuclear button. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/dDTBnsqxZ3k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
By saying close to it is understood this is an estimation. Which is how these numbers are found, unlike how you go off about: 142,974,000 americans employed Without even taking into consideration the work force aged population growth. You submit that there are more retirees so that is why we has less looking for jobs. I am telling you there are more millennials then there are baby-boomers. And today we have more college graduates living with parents and unable to find job than probably ever before.
I agree, Obama is clearly an intelligent person. Honestly, I get the impression it's his arrogance that turns people off. Sometimes he speaks and you feel yourself being lifted up, then he says things and you're like 1) stop preaching and 2) wow you're a socialist.
So you should have said that, rather than the erroneous statement where you erroneously claimed to have a number of fewer employed people - that fell apart, after a quick perusal of the BLS stats.
I do vote, btw. Wanted to add photos of the button on my hat that I've been wearing the last week. I admit that one big reason I wear this is so the Voter Registration advocates on the Pearl St Mall in Boulder would stop bothering me. and fwiw: You can get some passionate Liberal ass wearing this button. and a close-up
I've skimmed your replies in your thread and you obviously don't understand the person after which you named yourself for the board. He would not be down with you or anything you believe. At all.
First of all, I doubt you understand Bob! He became rasta at an early age. He was a strong believer of the bible and I doubt strongly he would believe in gay marriage. The main difference between him and I is he believes Hallie Selassie was Christ and I do not.
Hi Mana has the best post in this thread. Rich or poor, voting "with your pocketbook" or based on what you think is best for the economy makes sense. Economists don't know. People who have exploited the economy to great personal wealth don't know. Even that stats don't know - or maybe they do but good luck getting the right stats. Then consider the president can only do so much anyway. The economy will do what it does. Absolutely vote on the basis of other, "social" issues. Climate, woman's rights, gay marriage, foreign policy (though I think both parties are closer here than it seems), etc. To that end, the makeup of the Supreme Court is of course huge.
Bush wan't smart; but he was talented, and also exceptionally well connected and had the luckiest timing of a Republican pol in Texas and possibly US history. The Rangers ownership share, the Republican evolution; Democratic impeachment, Bullock's endorsement, even Clayton Williams losing to Richards four years earlier, just a few too many good breaks to count. Obama got exactly the same thing by freakishly bad luck and bad decisions by the Illinois GOP, but Harvard Law >>> than UT Law in the '70s, and Bush got rejected by the latter. I think he's gotten some great exposure and probably held his own in some great learning environments before they got overly selective. I do concede he's probably got more business acumen than he ever got to display; no reason he couldn't have gone to Wall Street after HBS and made himself a billionaire; or done well in the oil game probably even a decade earlier or later than he tried.
I was on the fence too....will vote blue, just can't somehow convince myself to vote for the GOP. Too many crazies.
I feel you're overly simplifying things. Because it seems to paint a picture of "left, right, and straight down the middle." I do believe the Democratic party and Obama is a different shade of gray compared to Romney and the Republican party. No, they're not polar opposite, but there is enough of a difference that will actually affect our lives.
OK so here are my main issues As promised, an acronym that my Fortune 100 clients embrace HSE and Future I am going to reinvent that somewhat This is just me H=Health (healthcare) S=Safety (defense) E=Environment Future=education I'm not making this up, this is the formula. And you thought I wasn't paying attention. Now...persuade me. What part of the HSE + Future formula is you candidate weak at. Persuade me
what do you see as Obama's plan for any of these issues? For education most republicans/libertarians see this as a state issue. This is good since multiple states trying multiple solutions would lead to the best one as opposed to now where every state is under the umbrella of the same failing plan.
