What a high horse you are on. I'm sorry but you are just rubbing me(and I assume majority of posters here) as a prick. To say that because someone worked their ass off(you must have never met a med student) and doesn't deserve the fruits of their labor is totaly un****ingamerican.

You need to re-read your paragraph. Its really circular and has no point.

I'm fairly educated and give much of my time and capital back. I do it myself at the expense of my own income. I just don't expect others to be forced to do so as its my choice, and I sure don't appreciate somebody being sarcastic in regards to a serious discussion about what I believe are issues that affect thousands of people's families and lives and especially people that are quick to expect out of others what they clearly are not of themselves.

"so don't give me this nonsense that its not about the money so you can feel better about yourself like a typical doctor going home in a Mercedes after billing the government or working for a hospital that bills the government and then feeling good that they are really helping people and doing it to give back."
But its okay to be a judgemental prick right?

When the hell have I said people don't deserve the fruits of their labor?!?!

I believe that more than anything else. I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy in some med student talking about not being in it for the money yet asking another business to lower their profits and sacrifice while these two jokers have yet to do anything.

Is that the new America? Expect of others but not yourself? This country is productive because people worked their asses off, but their fruits are subsidized significantly by the government and the field of medicine uses artificial barriers to entry to keep incomes more inflated than they should be.

But don't believe me on that?? Larry Summers, head of Obama's Economic Council says THE SAME THING about lack of supply due to AMA, Accreditation of New Schools and International physicians.

    Obama's team agrees with this.

The doctors and 1st and second year students from Baylor and UT-Houston staff and run Homes Clinic as well as others, also providing free screenings at several locations on the weekends. We have over 20 organizations within the school dedicated to service alone plus summer/winter/spring break humanitarian trips. A lot more than you're doing. Sorry. Nice to see you mocking our class charity though, you seem extremely mature. My classmates and I have donated more time and energy and raised more money giong to helping our fellow man in the past two years alone than you have in your life. The more you talk the more jaded and jealous you sound. Again, you're basing your judgement off of this inner hatred you doctors.

I mean myself and my class, like I said, so making fun of what we accomplished proves your point how? Again we see this cartoonish/childish argument that is substantiated by nothing except your wild emotions. How many doctors do you know to judge why they are in the medical field? None? Thought so. So I just took a dump on all of your asinine points. Back up your claims with something more than "You stupid doctors, driving around in your fancy cars taking from the government!" TIA.
And please, allow me to call you out on your BS. You tell me the specifics of which organization reached out to which medical school/ hospital and was blatantly denied assistance. I would love to make you look like a fool on that lie.

How can a "fairly educated" person be this damn ignorant as to make blanket ridiculous and unsubstatianted statements like yours. You don't appreciate sarcasm, but think you can call an entire field a bunch of greedy, uncaring aholes? Yeah buddy, I'm sure you're the educated philanthropist you make yourself out to be. You live in Houston right? I'll tell you what, I'll give you the opportunity to come to the school and voice your opinion. Look these people in the eye and tell them how uncaring they are. I'm with these people every day, they are the most hard working and caring people I have every met and do more to give back with their very limited free time than anybody I know. Take the offer, come explain to us how greedy we are. Prick.

It's funny that you attack physicians who support Obama care and in the same thought attack our wages. Physican pay has been cut by upto a third depending on the specialty. On the whole, physician pay also contributes to a quarter of medical care costs. Of medical reimbursements, about a third are from the government. There is no Medicare/Medcaid tit that we are nursing from.

I am not going to give you much more time, but I hope you come to appreciate how assinine and incorrect your statements are. The gilded age of overcompensated doctors is over, and people should be insured against unexpected medical maladies.

Also note, support for the poor is a good thing.

Companies that try to sneak around the law should be nationalized. That will get their attention.

Rocketman, it's noted that you didn't respond to me.

Please explain why it is the American middle class was born not during the industrial revolution (when there was no tax or regulations) but instead was born after WWII and continued to grow in direct proportion to the economy.

Also, please explain to me why the middle class contracted (while the rich got richer) as the American economy suffered.

I'd like to hear your explanation as it relates to low taxes and minimal regulation.

I don’t agree with everything Rocketman81 is saying but I do believe there is truth in his statements regarding too many barriers to entry for Doctors in America. As a consequence they have inflated salaries (its simple supply & demand). I’m not saying any and all foreigners should be allowed to practice medicine in the USA but I know from firsthand experience having watched my mother come from Brasil (where she practiced for 15 years as a dentist) and not being able to work for about 6 or 7 years.

Regardless of what the doctors on this forum say, there is an innate financial incentive to have high barriers to entry in the profession. That is not disputable. Anyone that attempts to discredit my last statement is being dishonest.

Sorry but correlation does not equal causation. The fact that their are safeguards in place to assuring quality trained physicians which may have lead to higher salaries does not mean that the AAMC and doctors in general are out there "fixing the system to get your money" which is what you are implying. Unless you have some proof otherwise that the fix is in I think it's b.s. to insinuate so.

I never said that the AAMC and doctors in general are out there to fix the system to get your money. I said that there is an innate financial incentive to have high barriers to entry in the profession. What does that mean? It means the invisible hand is serving the financial best interest of those within the profession. It’s the same in ALL professions that restrict membership. We all agree that health care costs across the board are a problem. So then I’m assuming we agree lower barriers to entry for the profession is needed. I don’t know what the arbitrary level should be so please don’t ask me.

To be clear I’m not demonizing anyone within these groups or the profession. I’m simply stating that we have a problem. We all agree that there are not enough doctors. There is only one solution to that problem.

Sorry I mistook your point. We agree that more doctors are needed. Building more schools and increasing the incentive to go to med school, not dropping any kind of standard is the solution to that problem.

For a guy supposedly doing so much for humanity and all, you sure seem to have an inflated ego because of it. You sure as hell talk down to people a lot as if you have yourself on some pedestal. I hope you are studying to become a Gynecologist because your douche personality will fit right in.

You talk down to any one who thinks differently than you because you are a douche..... You aren't better than anyone on this forum, you're a jackass with a keyboard and an internet subscription. Get a grip already, son. I had to steal your corny phrasing and LOL at your use of son..really sounds like something a "Doctor" would say.

If you're doing all those things in your life great, more power to you. Throwing it out as some sort of I'm better than you card because I do this or that makes you look like a douchebag big time.
