Haven't heard about this until now. So she hung herself after this? Very sad. I'm 25 and still think I'm closer to a child than an adult. I hate hearing about people younger than I am taking their lives. Nothing good can come out of this,
Facebook is definitely part of the problem. There are a lot of pros and cons with Facebook. I personally think Facebook will be, and already is the result of a lot of problems from bullying, to identity theft, to depression, etc, etc. I have one but rarely even look at it. People sit on there all day long and it is disgusting. People (especially teens) in today's world are so caught up in what everyone else is doing and not worrying about their own lives. It is creating a completely different social generation. People cannot even talk on the phone anymore. They would rather send a Facebook message, email or text. Everyone is excluding themselves from the real world. Nobody would know what to do anymore without the internet or a smart phone (the south park episode with no internet comes to mind). That is sad what that girl went through. Hopefully they find out who the guy was that posted that picture. They say it is Kody Maxson but he is denying it. I don't know how the laws are in Canada but that is illegal in the U.S.
Kids these days. Why would anyone post nudes on the interweb or go out with anyone with a significant other? Facebook isn't the problem. It's dumb people that it's the problem, and don't know how to use a tool like that. That's like saying guns or cars are a huge problem, but you need a human to operate either. She made terrible choices and paid dearly. R.I.P. I have kids so hopefully the way I raise them will help them to make better choices than most of the kids today. Video of the dad is here: http://www.edmontonjournal.com/Opin...Amanda+Todd+Internet+video/7406257/story.html
I know, right? It's almost as if she was a teenager with not enough life experience to know any better or something.
I sort of wanted someone to pick up on that... and, while it may be sarcastic or humorous or not, your point makes sense in a way that we as parents must make our kids (even while their teenagers, up until they grow up and leave the nest) know not to do certain things that could be deemed incorrect either by law, ethically, morally, or socially. I see what you did there.
So a girl puts pictures of her boobs on the internet and then throws a fit when her boobs are on the internet. Following lots of drama and moving she hooks up with a guy who she knows has a girlfriend and then throws another fit when his girlfriend kicks her ass. Sounds like she was making bad choices. None of those things merit death of course, but her death was at her own hand. Nothing happened to her that she didn't bring on herself. A very sad case, but one that was entirely in control of the "victim."
Facebook isnt the whole problem but it sure didnt help. Sure facebook didnt make those decisions for her but the other people were able to continually make those mistakes follow her from each school through hatred and the use of facebook. Like many other things in the wrong hands it can be misused. Its just terrible someone lost a life because of others cruelty. As a father myself, this just saddens my heart.
I am in NO way justifying the way she was treated but this story keeps popping into the back of my head. Why is it that this girl was treated so poorly by pretty much everyone her age despite her various moves? I understand that she wasn't getting the best of introductions with what the Facebook pervert was doing but is there more to this story? Call me cynical, but I think it's cheap when stories like this get passed around (ironically through Facebook) and everyone is presented with just a part of the story so others can pass their quick judgment on those that bullied her and move on with their day. Once again, I am in no way justifying those that bullied her.
Definitely sad, very sad that people do this **** (bullying). And then I remembered houstonstunnin and antec and hoped he didn't feel like this.
My wifes boobs are the internet, but I don't expect a stalker to send them to people we know, threaten her with them, & post them to FB. A girl slept with a guy that has a boyfriend? That never happens in high school. They are still so innocent, and are never led to believe something different than reality. Who knows exactly what was wrong with her? None of us. She says she made mistakes. It wasn't the events that seemed to bother her, but rather the reactions of those people around her. People saying you should kill yourself, and that they wish you were dead is pretty damned hurtful.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/briti...10/15/bc-amanda-todd-tormentor-anonymous.html Apparently Anonymous has identified her online stalker guy. He's in deep s*** now.
Well, I can surmise there are two or three bully ringleaders who orchestrated this who deserve a horrible fate and if I were the girl's father... . This was a bullying conspiracy led by two or three people she knew from the beginning who made it their mission to tear her down and they deserve whatever they get. The Facebook profile guy and this guy who baited her to sleep with him are scum.
Kody Maxson...was the guy Anonymous ID'd...if he is the guy..hope they find this rat ba$-turd...despicable human...
i have no clue who or what you are talking about. I heard about the story but haven't watched the whole video. so did she drink bleach, cut her wrists, or hang herself after the cyber bullying?
When private things go public...adults don't know what to do much less an immature teen...No one denies that her actions do not warrant scrutiny...but she is a foolish teen... Now imagine being a confused teen with her life seemingly tossed up in the air...makes the move to go to a different area... and make changes in her life...only to have her past come back to haunt her yet again...people go into serious anxiety/depression/paranoia...then this sick excuse for a human being, who is an adult, uses his twisted mind to manipulate a teenager into gratifying his perverted thoughts... This is why society looks down upon people/adults (who are in positions of power) being in relationships with young people/teens because...these kids are so easily manipulated and they loose the essence of being a child...I hope they find this sick f___ and put him in a cell with a guy named Big Bob...
