I made a map for you Ziggy. This is my routine, when I go once or twice a year. I haven't been this year yet, but no reason it shouldn't still work. I park in the closest free free lot no pass needed on West Campus about 100 yards beyond the Bush Library. Then I walk to the Bush Library and take the 5 minute shuttle to the Student REC Center. Then you're right there. https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?msi...0&ll=30.599595,-96.353295&spn=0.00953,0.01869 I do this because I can take the back route and avoid tons of traffic. Coming into CS, take Texas to Harvey Mitchell or Rock Praire to Wellborn to Harvey Mitchell and go way around behind west campus and stay on the left side of the George Bush Dr. intersection to avoid the backup of right turning cars. Then exit onto FM60 / University Dr. towards campus and turn right onto Research Pkwy. This route has very little traffic.
Thanks again for all the tips guys. I have my old student ID - does that help me get any special treatment? I hung onto it for discounts at movies and retailers - mwuahahaha.
Haha, the greatest feeling ever is when you're at a movie, and the person in the booth asks if you have a student ID. I was 18 when my picture was taken on my Aggie card, and I'm 29 now, but I have no shame when I slide that thing over to the pimply faced teenager working the stand. The incredulous look is worth $2.50 every time.
A&M's 2013 schedule: Sat, Aug 31 Rice Sat, Sep 07 Sam Houston State Sat, Sep 14 Alabama Sat, Sep 21 SMU Sat, Sep 28 @Arkansas Open Week Sat, Oct 12 @Ole Miss Sat, Oct 19 Auburn Sat, Oct 26 Vanderbilt Open Week Sat, Nov 09 Mississippi State Sat, Nov 16 New Mexico Sat, Nov 23 @LSU Sat, Nov 30 @Missouri
There's nothing illegal about it... just routine street parking. There are some sides you aren't allowed to park on, but there are signs that say it. I usually go roughly 5-6 blocks in from George Bush. By the way, if the Highway 6 exit line is incomprehensibly awful... there's also the option of going down a couple more miles on 290 to the next exit (Farm Road 1736) and curling around to hit 6 a bit further up. Look it up on Google Maps. That ridiculous backup would be my only fear for going Houston-to-CS this week.
8 games in the state of Texas. Don't think the Anti-A&M Recruiting argument that these kids families won't get to see them play because we are always going to be playing so far away is going to hold water.
Random post but... I know y'all think I'm an SEC nut (even since TAMU was in the Big 12) but I'm genuinely proud that a Texas based program has a foot in the SEC. Texas is SEC country. That's awesome to me and I'd feel the same if UT had the honors (although I'd be jealous). SEC Football in Texas. That's great man. Competition is cyclical so I can't say the SEC is the best conference because that wont always be true. But it is the most important conference and Texas is the most important football state. Feels good man.
I have absolutely nothing to add to this except.....yeah, pretty much. I can't hate. Bama is a freaking good.
Over the last few years, I have used the Post Oak Mall bus several times. I have always found it to be reliable. The lines are long, especially for a game like this, but they do a very good job moving people quickly. The line after the game gets very long. But again, they do a good job moving people. They use a lot of buses. For the Florida game, I parked on campus. It was a lot of traffic. If you insist on parking on campus, I recommend the north side garage. Good luck...and gig 'em.
A&M clearly not on Alabama's level(who is?), so an early season game against a tough opponent that they'll lose against, fine, OK. Move on and try to go on a run after that. Hey, give me Alabama early every year, that's fine, ha.
This game is starting off much the same way the game against Florida did. It's going to come down to which team makes second half adjustments, and execute their game plan better. Both teams look like they are evenly matched however, with an edge going to the Aggie offense. Manziel is looking poised so far.
So far, LSU has done a really good job of containing Manziel. However, you can say that the Tigers defense is already exhaused, and it's only been one quarter of play. Sumlin and Kingsbury are doing an excellent job of keeping LSU off-balance, and hitting them with a good mix of runs, throws, and Manziel runs. I hope Mike Evans can come back though, because he's a tremendous threat in the passing game. LSU is having real problems guarding his size.
LSU looks very uninspired. A&M needs to take advantage and run up as big a lead as possible in the 1st half. They might take this.
