    LINK

Talk about stupid, is it really such a problem? Seems to me like the league each year wants to take out a bit more of the 'personality' of the NBA. It's already bad enough that the players are meant to be robots and never react to anything.

I don't remember fans getting upset and booing when players starting to shake hands before the game starts? This is another "don't fix what isn't broken" situation.

I hear Royce White is already lobbying for special treatment, because pregame countdowns, buzzers and threats of delay of game penalties might freak him out.

    Stupid.

I don't understand why Stern is trying to quell personality when it is the personalities of the NBA players that sells his league. The fans enjoy this stuff, no one was complaining about a extra 5 mins.

Honestly just start the game 5 mins earlier if he's such a stickler for time.

Next thing you know they'll be giving out techs for on the court celebrations like when Westbrook holsters his three or Novak's discount doublecheck. That's the next step, hopefully Silver isn't as lame as Stern.

    Great idea!

All that Lin/Fields Bible reading routine turned fans off. Nobody cares about the religious faith of assets.

    Ridiculous.

Ultimately this is not saving any significant time, & besides the nba needs to recognize its primary demographic, because most kids eat this type of stuff up, lebron/dwight, the dancing & skits etc.

Pregame rituals might be entertaining in the arena, but they make bad television. I won't miss it. They should also cut the national anthem.

    Thats a nice article

    There's this suggestion
    2 words: PLAYER'S UNION

Less time required to play can take away a roster spot or 2. Player's union wouldnt go for that. It wouldnt affect the stars, it might actually HELP them. Kobe, Steve Nash, Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol really arent caring what happens with Andrew Goudelock, him being gone might be even a little more money for them. But unions are about the MIDLEVEL to scrub players banding together to get the money

What? Hell no. For most Americans the national anthem means a lot more than just words, Juan.

Stern is such a souless, money grubbing prick. A sorry human being who would be far more content if the NBA consisted of automatons without emotion, a league made up of The Stepford Players, who produce something that isn't basketball, but rather a form of video game, the players decked out as walking, talking advertisements. He wants a game of purity. The purity of a money machine without thought, with every machine the same, except for variations of size and color. With every arena a 7/11 of overpriced Twinkies, beer, and Cokes. With superb seats for the 1%, and nose bleeders for the rest of the fans who take his bizarre rules, and increasingly bizarre game, with a grimace and a crooked grin, wondering why their beloved game has become so hard to recognze. Wondering why they are there.

Wondering where this will ultimately lead.
