Okay so I ran my program using Paul Gasol's 2005 points, rebounds and blocks per 36 and got the following players back:

    Vin Baker
    Andrea Bargnani
    Elton Brand*
    Andrew Bynum
    Derrick Coleman*
    LaPhonso Ellis
    Roy Hinson*
    Al Jefferson
    Shawn Kemp
    Danny Manning
    Shawn Marion
    Antonio McDyess
    Yao Ming
    Sam Perkins*
    Chris Smith
    Josh Smith
    Rasheed Wallace*

Of those, 5 also appear on the NY Times article's Gasol list (designated by the asterisks).

Realistically, Lin will play at an average, Mike Conley-esqe, level.

Public perception, regardless of what he does, will continue to be that he is either an All-Star or career backup.

There are some really good players on that list and it makes sense for Pau. I don't doubt your specific algorithm. I'm just saying I need to see more, I guess (volume-wise). Sorry to pile onto your workload!

For what we paid him he needs 15pt & 8assist. Right now he's looking like a bust. If he continues to play like this then heads need to roll in management

I don't think you're understanding the game correctly. He commanded the team and quarterbacked the team just right.. to a win. What more do you want from a pg?? Once he finds his shot, he's gonna be a solid get. Asik already looks like a steal and Jones looks the best pick of the bunch. It's early yet, though.

Bad comparison, Conley is a great shooter, one of the best guys at getting steals and barely turns the ball over. Also one of the quickest quards.

    Huh, WHAT?

Do you realize how HARD it is to get 15 and 8?

15 ppg would make him the 11th highest scorer amongst PG's with a minimum of 10 games and 15 minutes per game. http://www.hoopdata.com/regstats.aspx?team=%&type=pg&posi=PG&yr=2012&gp=10&mins=15

8 apg would make him the 7th highest passer amongst PG's with a minimum of 10 games and 15 minutes per game. http://www.hoopdata.com/regstats.aspx?team=%&type=pg&posi=PG&yr=2012&gp=10&mins=15

    For some points of comparison....

    2011/12 season
    Kyle Lowrly - 14.3/6.6
    Goran Dragic - 11.7/5.3
    Ty Lawson - 16.3/6.5
    John Wall - 16.0/8.0
    Ricky Rubio - 10.6/8.2
    Jose Calderon - 10.5/8.8
    Mike Conley - 12.5/6.6

Seriously, folks need to be more realistic about PG expectations. $8.3m/year ($25m/3 years) does NOT get you a 15/8 PG in the NBA.

If Lin puts up 15/8, he'll be one of the most underpaid players in the NBA at $8.3m/year....

I seriously hope he finds his shot because right now he can't hit the side of a barn. It's still early but he has to step it up. Based off what we're paying him he needs to play like the cornerstone of the franchise. Right now he's playing like a backup

Didn't know you could get a cornerstone player of a franchise for 8 mil a year. Didn't know a backup PG was capable of getting 12 assists and 4 steals a game. Thanks for the education.

Are LOF really that oblivious? With all the other Lin threads on the first page, some still feel the need to create a new Lin thread?

Or maybe it's the attention? It should be that. They think their point is too important for the other Lin threads so they have to make a new one.

Why do LOH always make pointless posts complaining about Lin threads?
