I am swaying toward voting for Romney instead of just abstaining from voting all together because I disagree with them both. I really thought the most relevant point to come out of the Romney campaign had been the first debate. Romney implied that the time talking about and working on ObamaCare should have been applied to fixing the economy. I do agree with that and I am tired of the government trying to mandate things to the states. Plus on a personal note, my father has glaucoma is a state where he can by pot. He has since gotten a card and it has helped a tremendous amount he says. That coward Obama comes out and says that he will protect the states and that this was "low on his list of priorities" (Understatement of the century). Then, shops around the nation get raided fairly aggressively and the situation is now changing to where he probably won't be able to get it after November. Note, that this is how my father (a life time Democrat) tells the story. They are still supporting Obama but only because they find Romney repulsive. I stay out of politics now. The sad part, is that even if a really great person came in to really fix things, they would just be ripped apart by media and the internet. I think tonight is big for Romney. He has a little momentum. I think he needs another win tonight to really give himself an honest chance. I don't really buy the polls that are showing him to be ahead.
If you don't think health care deserved the attention that it got you should really look into how bad it is my friend. The federal government is supposed to mandate things to the state for the betterment of the people, I don't even need to begin to list the numerous federal mandates that you probably benefit from everyday. Can you clarify how Obama is a coward please.
If you want to vote based on pot availability, the only good ticket is Johnson/Grey. Look up some of the things that Judge Jim Grey has said on the subject...
drinking game for tonight. thegary will be playing. -- On Tuesday night, the presidential debates begin anew. After Mitt Romney's trouncing of Barack Obama at the first debate in Colorado, the two candidates will come to Hofstra University in Long Island, N.Y., for another round. It's like Rocky II, just with less "ADRIAAAN" and more "cuts to the domestic discretionary budget." But if near-drunken hollering is your thing, we've got just the drinking game for you. Check below for our rules for the first and only town-hall debate between Obama and Romney. And stay safe out there. 1 Drink Events Romney cites the "six studies" that have signed off on his tax plan. Unlike the last time around, Obama says the number 47. A question is asked about marriage equality or gay rights. The audience boos either candidate. Either candidate praises a member of the other party. A questioner asks about the Obama administration's response to the attack in Libya. Obama brings up the Massachusetts health care law. Anybody says the word "Bain." Take an extra drink or two if it sounds a bit more like "Bane." Housing or Fed policy is discussed by either candidate. Stimulus-funded "green jobs" and windmills supposedly made in China are derided by Romney. Either candidate accuses the other of making Medicare unsustainable for people under age 55. Either candidate directly panders to the hometown of a questioner. Obama accuses Romney of changing his policies mid-debate. Either candidate hassles the moderator over how much time they've been given to speak. 2 Drink Events Anyone says "malarkey." An actual unemployed person gets to ask either candidate a question. Big Bird is mentioned in a question. The camera pans to a woman or member of an ethnic group that a candidate is currently pandering to. A question is asked about immigration policy at a presidential debate. Taking the lead from Vice President Joe Biden, Obama actually defends the stimulus. A questioner starts crying, mid-question. As is his habit, Romney attempts to guess the age and ethnicity of a questioner. Several minutes into a question, an audience member has to be reminded to ask a question, not make a statement. Obama channels Biden and laughs through a response from Romney. A questioner asks the candidates about unmanned drone policy. Moderator Candy Crowley cuts off a questioner to ask her own, vaguely related, question. A questioner asks either candidate about the euro crisis. 3 Drink, Red Alarm Events Obama visibly falls asleep at his podium. To keep from falling asleep, Obama appears on stage with a nicotine patch stapled to his forehead. Romney leaves the stage half way through the debate, figuring he may as well go out on top. Obama sends in Biden to debate Romney in his place. To level the playing field, Romney sings the answer to an audience question on the economy. Obama congratulates his fellow Nobel Peace Prize winners: everyone living within the European Union. http://www.nationaljournal.com/poli...e-barack-obama-vs-mitt-romney-take-2-20121016
Won't they pretty much automatically be up from part time work during the holidays? (I haven't followed November job reports in the past, but it seems logical?)
Maybe, but it's hard to see that the good jobs numbers following the first debate trumped those results.
Having never worked in retail, I assumed they would start hiring before the actual holidays began. But, again, never followed the job reports before.
I'm sure they do, but I think Oct. might still be a little early. Though I imagine there might be some hiring by then. I have no idea when the hiring takes place.
Interesting housing numbers reported. http://money.cnn.com/2012/10/17/real_estate/home-building/index.html?iid=HP_LN Biggest bump in four years. But the government is cooking these numbers, amiright? The truth is that whoever is elected, we have about 12 million new jobs headed our way.
The numbers are seasonally adjusted, so that shouldn't matter, unless the holiday hiring is stronger than usual.
Amazon said yesterday they are adding 50,000 seasonal employees and at least 40% will stay on after the holidays.
Anecdotal evidence but I'm in the process of purchasing my first home. 3.25% rate and buying a home where my utilities are estimated to be $14.00 a month that fits my income bracket is too good to pass up.
