yeah it's unclear. If he is a sales rep and is just standing by the register this is called 'clerking' this means he is not putting out any sales effort and is coasting. On other hand if he is a cashier and is expected to make sales numbers based on a cashier position then that's weird.
You should ask them how your total sales numbers compare to the rest of the staff. Did your numbers drastically go down from what they were prior to this? Are the other staff having the same problems you are? It seems like unless you are just really unlucky or the other sales staff is really lucky, then everyone would have similar problems. Without knowing what you are selling it seems like your total sales should matter the most, but even if you get 100% agreement from everyone who replies here that won't really help you with your boss. In the end it doesn't really matter what any of us think about it, the owners can and will do whatever they want. The best you can do is try to make a reasonable and polite arguement for your point of view. What you should do from there depends on what you like about the job, what your other job options are, and what the consequences other than them being "down your throat" are if you continue to post similar numbers. If you can't convince them to change their mind, you either have to live with it or find another job. Keep in mind that most sales jobs are going to have some pressure and stress involving your numbers, and you will be better off leaving your current job on reasonably good terms if possible.
never got that restaurant off the ground? still slinging electronics at Batteries Plus? step your game up
How come salesmen are never there when you really need them, but they fly in like vultures when you DON'T? This happens ALL THE TIME at WorstBuy.
No. But it could be... [rquoter]What's the deal with pushy salesmen?!?!? I mean they're there when you don't need them, not there when you do... it's kinda like sort of... your mother in law! [/rquoter]
