Lamb should take some inside shots and DMo needs to learn how to boxout and post moves

In retrospect, this team lost their legs in the second half. We have a young team who played a fully loaded SA Spurs team last night, and a mostly-veteran Mavs team tonight......... The one thing McHale needs to do is preach not to settle for the jump shot. This will help avoid the ghastly scoring runs by the opposition.

This maybe is true but McHale should be putting the team in position to succeed not tear them down to prove he is right.

Exactly. That's what this season is going to be all about. Young players learning what it takes to play in the NBA. I'm hoping to see these guys start to figure things out a little bit by April.

Either Lamb has no confidence or he just didn't feel like playing today. Standing on the perimeter and not attacking isn't the best way to show the coach you want to be in the rotation.

That said, everyone else looked awful.

White did not look great in the first half. Second half he looked a little more comfortable (but not fully). He's never been a GREAT defender and the Mavs defense pretty much scorched everyone in the 4th quarter. Not just his fault, but others' fault as well as his.

He could have had a handful of assists too if his teammates could make a shot.

conclusion is, this is a preseason game---its where rookies discover their weaknesses so they can work on it.

You might be right. shrug I can't read the man's mind. Don't know what is necessarily the best method either. Let's see how the rooks respond.

Apparently nothing. He doesn't know what to do with himself when his perimeter shot isn't going in. When he brings the ball up during transition, he has tunnel vision and can't see open teammates on the weak side. And he's lazy closing out shooters. So far, he's just part of the chucker parade.

Then there's Machado who has no concept of help defense, and of boxing out on the defensive end. He just passively watches the ball dancing on the rim, just waiting for offense to begin, which is all he cares about. Jones got an offensive rebound for himself by snatching the ball from Machado's hands -- which wouldn't have happened if Machado boxed out.

On offense, Machado's good at seeing the play before it develops, which can't be said for TD.

This season will be painful to watch.

Asik is good, but amazing? Not even close, at least what went on tonight. Amazing is on the level of Howard, Shaq, Garnett, etc. He's not there yet. Sorry. He could very well be a double double guy in a year or two though.

preseason is excuse, this team doesnt have chemistry and to many young players so what you see is what you get right now. Our starters ,especially asik will be playing heavy minutes. BTW season starts in 2 weeks so if your 11 man rotation cant handle preseason you gonna have trouble first week of the season
