to be the backup point guard. Sorry, Douglas just doesn't have it. Machado far from ready. Livingston has to show up and play.
That is exactly what I have been saying all along. Fans here see TD make some shots here and there and some nice bounce pass, but he does not run the show. He is not the general out there. We need another backup that able to control the pace and command the plays.
He is more likely to take Lamb's spot than Douglas' IMO. Douglas isn't a terrible player, he just isn't a PG. Livingston is a natural fit next to him. Lamb on the other hand doesn't know how to play winning basketball yet. Standing on the perimeter and only jacking up 3s isn't going to cut it.
If Livingston is going to run the point, there is no reason to put Douglas out there. He's a small shooting guard with a fair to poor 3-point shot. We'd be better off letting Lin develop or running Forbes out there.
In the situation the Rockets are in, they MUST move one or the other before Oct 31st. Neither are long term solutions. So if your Morey you just see what the best deal is you can get for either of them in trade, and then you cut the one that will do the least amount of damage to the salary cap flexibility going forward. Right now neither of the two have shown me anything. Apparently Douglas has worked really hard in practice so that might mean something, but if its a better deal for the Rockets to move Douglas and keep Livingston that Adios TD.
I believe he's got a 1Mil buyout that expires around the trade deadline if Im not mistaken???? Someone can correct me if Im wrong. That might actually make Livingston worth holding onto until the trade deadline actually. I wouldn't be shocked if they find a way to move Douglas then in all honesty just because of the fact that Livingston will be a better trade piece.
that's why TD should come off the bench with White. TD can defend while White can be the floor general. perfect.
I agree, those Douglas turnovers in the third were horrible and ultimately sparked that blowout. He was horrible last year for the knocks and does not look better this year. Livingston would be the better player but I'd like them play lamb and delfino with white as the pg along side Jones and dmo. That lineup would be a curveball and would catch people off guard.
I think they keep both. They're both guaranted salary and we may need their salaries at the trade deadline to match up a trade.
They've all got a chance, because nobodies that good. Livingston hasn't shown me anything to make me think he's the favorite, neither have the other 2.
I disagree, I think Machado has so far been the most impressive, even more than Lin. His asst/to ratio has been impressive. Small sample size though. However I think we have room for 3 PG's especially given Lin's still-improving health and Livingston's injury history. I'm happy with these 3.
To make the 15 man roster, assuming JJJ and Brockman are cut, that leaves one more person needing to be cut. That means its down to Machado, Smith, Livingston, Forbes, or Douglas. Seeing as many minutes as Machado has logged in the preseason I think it has to be one of the other 2 PG's unless they want to get rid of G. Smith. I have to say that the more I look at this it has to be one of Douglas or Livingston getting the boot. Yes, Livingston is due more money, but his contract buyout makes him a much more attractive trade piece towards the deadline. Maybe by that time McHale will feel more confident with just 2 PG's on his roster. If Im Morey, I would rather trade or waive Douglas if I could find a way to do so.
Smith is thier only back up center and younger than most of the players so I think he stays. Livingston hasn't done anything on the court and McHale sure doesn't give him a chance too either.
