That buzz and hype is going to be short and sweet if he shoots like he's shooting in the pre-season. Why the Rox would let two proven PG's in Lowry and Dragic go in favor of signing JLin still has me scratching my head. I could see why the Knicks might do it given their PG situation but the Rox had two capable PG's that are arguably better than Lin.
A lot of dumb posts in this thread. Wait until the real games start before making any statements. Preseason means absolutely nothing and Lin is trying to get into game shape while he's working on getting his teammates going and working on his left hand. Those of us who have followed him closely know that he is more than an average player and will prove the doubters wrong yet again. I was hoping the ignorance and racism wouldn't follow him to Houston but I guess there is no getting around that. Oh well, looking forward to the season starting so some of you can STFU.
It's really simple if you look at it from a business standpoint. Dragic and Lowry were going to guarantee that we compete for the bottom of the lottery or maybe an 8th seed and they were going to cost as much or more than Lin. So, if your goals are to get a higher pick and still have a team to market what do you need? You need a player that brings hype and marketing without winning meaningless games. True, Lin might turn out to be a similar skill level player to Dragic or Lowry which might screw up our lottery pick, but, he did it with more fans watching the Rockets and for less/equal money. I also think Morey feels like he can man the point guard spot effectively at any time. I wish we still had Dragic too but Lin makes a lot of sense if your looking to make money on your franchise.
I think he'll be better than average but not necessarily a star. Since there was no above average option, I went with "star" since we're both Asian
Do you know what a cornerstone of franchise means. Hakeem was a cornerstone, shaq was one, Kobe is one, Duncan is one, lebron is one. Lin sure as hell isn't one neither is asik parsons Lowry Rudy gay ty Lawson dragic bargnani etc.
Good Answer okierock... Said this before... This was a marketing business transaction from the start.. Lin is going to bring money into Les pocket, plus he will add more ESPN highlights for the team... Lin is a good player but this is more about marketing... have to rep you for this...
I willing to be Lin has his best game tonight and the poll will be completely different in the AM. We are all slaves of the moment fyi I said star
I think he has the potential to have an all-star season within the length of his contract here, but for the rest of it I expect him to only be above-average. And honestly that'd be sufficient.
Lin's Preseason Dilemma............. Lin's Preseason Dilemma......... 1. Starters rarely play in the fourth quarter in preseason. 2. Jeremy Lin generally plays his best ball in the 4th quarter. Just go to the game Lin played in Philly last season. After three quarters, he was 1-11 shooting in that game......... Two points, two assists, two turnovers.......... Sound familiar? He ended up scoring 16 points in the 4th quarter, and willed the Knicks to a road victory.......... http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/knicks/post/_/id/14940/lin-finishes-strong-in-philly I will only start worrying about Lin if he fizzles when the games count.
Too early to tell. Preseason games are almost completely meaningless. As of right now he doesn't look good but hopefully he will return to form before the real season starts.
Also should at least have an above average option. Gap between average and star is quite big. As of right now I don't feel like he fits either category.
After 3 preseason games and we are wondering whether or not Lin is still in the Rocket's plans? Good god man, why are we freak'n out over Lin's performance during preseason? He's rusty, that's it. Give him time to gel with his new teammates and vise versa... Let's get the season going first before we start making these kind of threads...
