Your reason why the Texan sub forum population is relatively low

What reason(s) are preventing this sub forum from having over 300 viewers in addition to higher posting activity in the GARM?

    The Asian persuasion?
Clutchfans' notoriety as a top notch Basketball site with the Dish, Garm.?

Interesting note: IDK if anybody has noticed, but a whole lot of the members posting in here have time served.
    Opinions as to why?

    Whaddya think?

Maybe it's because it's a sub forum on
    a basketball site?

It's a basketball site, so there are a lot of non-football (and even some Cowboys) fans around here. :p

My focus is on basketball, but the forums really have three grouped interests that I share, in my opinion:

    Basketball/Rockets
    Houston Sports
    Houston Community (Hangout)

I think the Texans forum has grown a lot. The sigma of being a basketball site may have kept some from posting the latest Texans or Astros discussion on ClutchFans, but I think that's changing and will continue to change.

I actually like the fact that the knee jerking pelebians from the rockets section stay away from this forum. Jk.

I agree with everything quoted above, minus the JK.

I think the Rockets fanbase is more spread out than you think, it's literally everywhere around the world.

But I have to say, I got into football strictly from this sub forum, I am now a half assed football fan that supports the Texans even though I've never been to Houston.

Knowing what it was like before there was a dedicated sub forum,I see that there is a huge growth in popularity here. Before, when it was grouped with other Houston sports, we had a mix of a few Texan threads with a few Astros threads and an occasional Dynamo thread. Add to that a random thread for other sports in Houston and it was hard to develop a consistent and easy to separate out area for fans of the different sports to go.

Since the switch, all the split up sections have seen traffic increase, even though it seems like there is not a large contingent of posters in any of them. If we look at the overall picture there is actually more interest that there was before the split. You aren't going to see 300 people viewing the Texans forum, because there is still only a minor part of the membership that are Texans fans. Albeit, there are more Texans fans here than say if we had a Dolphins or Seahawks section, for obvious reasons. As the site's reputation grows I expect to see more traffic in all of the subsections. Of course we aren't Texans Talk or any of the other dedicated Texans forums, we aren't trying to be. But I think if we continue to build our reputation overall we will continue to draw more board interest, increase membership and hopefully bring more quality information here.

I think this stands for the Astros forum, as well. Even with the team as terrible as they are, there are some very knowledgeable people that post in there. There aren't a lot of posters but there is a lot of quality to be found in that forum.

TexansTalk and Battle Red Blog are the two I go to the most.

Check member count tomorrow night. Almost nothing to talk about night before a game. Day of and day after are 90% of the talk each week.

Heck, even as a huge Houston sports fan being a Houston native, I still dedicate most of my time-wasting opportunities here because I care about basketball the most. I just don't have the raw passion for the Texans/Astros as I do the Rockets. When Schaub went down last year, I was disappointed that the Texans wouldn't be able to make noise in the playoffs. With either a T-Mac or a Yao injury, I would literally get depressed in the real world too.

Personally, I like the smaller community of the Texans and Astros forums. The GARM gets overwhelming at times.

I was just about to post this. I love this section of CF. Much more mellow and drama free, and most importantly - idiot free.

I would rather it be smaller so we I don't have to deal with hundreds of trolls everywhere. I tend to think most of the people that post here are a bit more knowledgeable than the average fan.

Of course some of you are still blatant trolls but by percentages they are much less than anywhere else.
