You don't need to be a machine to get drafted #1 in the NFL, you simply need to possess the parts to build that machine. Depends who makes the pick but if the team needs a QB they're taking Barkley or trading the pick to someone who will.
The fascination is based on his last 5-6 games in 2011 where he was arguably the best QB in college FB over RG3. He made every throw in the book and then some. People expected him to pick up where he left off.
Barkley has the higher upside, but Geno is solid, has gotten better and is a film junkie I think Barkley goes ahead of Geno, but Geno probably wins the heisman trophy
Give it to Colin Klein Geno is a pocket passer, i like that he is refusing to run. Running QB's dont last in the NFL i disagreed with the commentators, if your defense cant stop a nosebleed, and you are playing with 5'8 WR's... then so be it Geno will be a great NFL prospect... i love that he refuses to run Give Geno that talent on OU or Texas, and he would be dominant, but its about the pros for Geno at this point. This guy has a bowl record TD's( set last year againist Clemson in the Orange Bowl)
We'll learn about Geno Smith in upcoming games, especially next week vs. K-State and next month against OU. This was his first test against a legit defense and he clearly failed. No two ways about it.
Geno has already locked up a top 5 pick his past history speaks for itself the WVU defense will still be trash, and Geno is still playing with 5'8 WR's. All things considered he is doing way above average, he wont have these disadvantages in the NFL. Todd McShay alluded to this on Sportscenter, he will be a top 10 selection barring injury. Geno isnt like Landry Jones( a QB playing with elite talent and still sucking) you wont know how good a QB like Geno would be, unless you give him talent like Texas and OU have. RG3 was able to get the max out of that team, and it was clearly he himself who made those recievers( namely Kendall Wright look better than he is)
