Texas could have had any OC and DC in the nation and they picked two unproven guys. I still don't get it.
Texas scored 28 points against West Virginia in the first half. Tech has scored 35. The reason Tech is winning big is because their defense is making the plays they need to to get off the field.... something this Texas defense couldn't do.
Mack Brown has to take some responsibility for this at some point. The Longhorns have been getting their heads kicked in by the Sooners for years, too.
UT gets the best recruits year after year; recently they don't seem to know what to do with them. Sounds like coaching to me.
The Longhorns have quit. Once this season is officially over, major personnel changes need to be made. Time for Mack Brown to leave, along with most of the rest of the coaching staff (including Diaz and Harsin). Mack has never been all that good of a HC...and lately even the quality of recruiting has suffered, especially on offense. I wouldn't mind seeing DeLoss Dodds getting the axe, too. Just clean house. What a boneheaded move, giving Mack that $5 million contract. Texas needs a coach who can actually coach worth a damn, and perhaps more importantly has some fire in his belly and can actually motivate players to perform and execute on the field. There are several other coaches in the Big 12 and elsewhere around the country that are getting their teams to perform very well...with players that are (on paper) inferior talent-wise to Texas's.
The refs were running over UT players: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mckhe-qhi2s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Basically UT-Austin branch has become irrelevant in the world of college football. They've lost 9 straight games vs. top 25 opponents. That's atrocious. And they're losing their recruiting edge, as well. They're barely in the top 10 for the 2013 class, assuming no defections after the losses to WVU and OU. USC and Alabama are running laps around UT-Austin branch in recruiting. That leaves the horns with less talent and the same crappy coaches. Expect to continue sweating it out vs. Baylor every year! meanwhile are the Aggies on their way to putting a program together? Now out from under the horns' shadow in the SEC, will they take over the torch for the state? looking that way
This. Mack get the best recruits and has only 1 nc to show for it thanks to vy. Most overrated coach ive ever seen.
While I agree that Mack is overrated, a couple things to note: 1) The recruiting success of the past 2-3 years is slipping away -- 2013 recruiting is not going nearly as well for UT Austin branch as it is for the USCs and Alabama's of the world. 2) Remember that Rivals recruiting service plays to its subscriber base. UT Austin branch is going to be overrated in this, due to the number of subscribing alums and t-shirt fans out there. 3) There is not a huge gulf between the talent level of the top 10-20 teams in the rivals ranking. Just because OU lands at number 7 vs. UT Austin branch at number 2 doesn't mean the horns have appreciably better talent that the sooners. You saw that yesterday... the bottom line is that a football coach needs to actually coach on gameday, you can't just rely on talent alone -- that's not nearly enough.
it iz a fact dat dey could have their pick of qb's in TX though....dat is on them to not get a good un
