He needs to be more aggressive and put on some weight so he can make his presence down low. Worried he might become David Anderson

not a center defensively, never will be, not even in a Chris Bosh/Miami type of role.

Frankly, I wish I was able to attend the games, it's hard to see some details via PC. Like, how's his defensive communication? It seemed very lacking to me, but again, that's easy to miss via PC with that broadcasting crew blabbering like there's no tomorrow.
If he's going to keep playing 5 this year, communication is the first thing he'll have to master, defensively. Learn rotations, personnel, and talk on defense. Clearly he's not going to block shots or outmuscle people, so he'll need help, he'll need everyone around him to rotate properly and minimize his work, and for that he'll need to be very vocal on defensive end.
Most good defensive centers are vocal because they are typically in a good position to see the floor defensively, but it'll be especially crucial for someone as flawed as Donatas.

Offensively, passable. But should really be a 4.

Yeah, that's not going to happen. Donatas is not going to be nor will he ever be a center.

Another version of Jordan hill. A weakling. You don't put 150 pounder to hold a 200 pounder. Laws of physics.

Didn't I say this already a while back?

I think he just needs time to adjust to the NBA game. He does a lot of good things, but he's having to learn how the officiating will call the game, and how to defend well without fouling. Thus far I've seen him in a lot of strange match-ups. He's been matched defensively from players between the 3-5 positions, but I believe they're trying to see what they have offensively out of the guy. I believe he'll be in the rotation however. White is looking like the odd man out at this point.

I'd love to see him and TJ getting minutes at the 4 next to Asik.

It's only a matter of time before D-Mo is the starting PF.

Morey said on his talk show he is the team's best post player.

How will JLin get points and assists if the starting PF and C are only ok finishers, not that good at pick and roll, and won't draw double teams????????????????

Not too mention Martin and Parsons could use somebody to make things easier for them offensively. JLin isn't able to break down defenders like Gogi and get loose all the time.

Rockets offense doesn't look that good.

I don't think that Donatas lack of strength is going to hinder him that much, on offense that is.

He won't be able to get deep post position all the time, but if you saw last night's game, he got the ball at the free throw line and did a dribble and drop step hook shot about 5 feet from the rim.

Calling him another version of Jordan Hill is incorrect on so many levels.

Completely different players, different skill set (Hill barely has one) and different attitude.

The only thing they have in common is they can't guard 5s.

I think this would solve some our problem:

    1. Start TJ at 4.
    2. Let PPat back Omer at 5.
    3. Let Dmo backup TJ.

D Mo is a 4 for sure. His face up game >>>>>> Post up game. He looked super uncomfortable back to the basket. He airballed a shot or 2 from the post. Later in the game like 1 min left in the 4th, he had 3 back to back to back face up jumpers that were WET!

    Verdict: D Mo = Bargnani 2.1.3

Hakeem played against heavier centers most of the time and he beat them. If weight was all it mattered, teams would just put fat-asses to play center. You have no idea what you're talking about.
