Your sole reasoning for bill of rights = ten commandments was that "murder is illegal."
From what I read, even if you didn't intend it, it seemed like you were equating morals to religion.

Yep. Everybody should have an opportunity to succeed. That is why I am much more in favor of education subsidies, both in universities and the trades, than I am cradle to grave welfare. Welfare does not give an opportunity to succeed...it keeps people in their present situation. Temporary welfare is a much different story.

We need social programs that allow people to chase their dreams, not ones that keep those dreams at an impossible distance.

I am against prohibition of most things, gambling, prostitution, and drugs are at the top of that list for me.

I would rather they concentrate their efforts on things that might actually reduce abortion rates, things like education, ubiquitous availability of birth control, and having options like Plan B available OTC.

Just one effort, making sure that ever female over 12 knows the material in the book "Taking Charge of your Fertility," would reduce unwanted pregnancies dramatically, which would also reduce rates of abortion.

A paper ban would be exactly as effective as the drug war in the era of RU-486. Any woman who wanted an abortion would be able to get this pill, which would cause many more medical issues than we have today.

    Alright to no welfare?
What happens to those that do not succeed?
You realize the essence of capitalism is to cut someone down to lift yourself up?

Inevitably there are going to be those that are not successful. Welfare is there is keep them from dying in the streets. Unless of course you want them to die in the streets because they are leeches on society. I definitely agree that welfare should be dramatically reformed however.

I never mentioned the bill of rights. Our first laws is a general statement. Nowhere in the bill of rights is murder mentioned. So why would I give murder being illegal as the reason for the bill of rights.

I understand what you are saying, but you read a ton of things into it there were not there, and the argument isn't really logical.

Maybe I should have been more artful, but it was early.

Then I just misunderstood what you were saying.
    I apologize.

This is the second post of mine this morning that you have totally misread.

The notion that certain people have no talents and are just doomed is fatalistic and incorrect. If somebody gets training through education or training and cannot make ends meet, I am good with some programs to make up the difference. I am not ok with cradle to grave programs that foster people not chasing their dreams and not reaching their potential. I support wholeheartedly programs that would make obtaining education or training possible for those who could not otherwise afford it so everybody has the opportunity to reach their potential.

Nowhere did I say that I want people t just die in the street. I want to equip people with the means to not have to rely on government to avoid dying in the street.

No problem. You got rep from me. It is rare in the D&D that anybody will admit to misconstruing a post.

    I'm not a Christian.

I'm all for abortion. (They're parasites until they leave the house, anyway.)

I'm not for Universal Free Healthcare.

I would like to echo this statement. Everytime I hear the kind of arguments above, I get a new girl pregnant and make her get an abortion.

So who's spending time and money to help these women through pregnancy and ensure their kids are brought up in a suitable environment again? You?

I'm an atheist and think killing the unborn is wrong.

All our rights are meaningless without the right to our own existence.

Good question, but doesn't justify the murder of dependents.
