According to Synergy, Patterson gave up .97 pts per possession on 46.9FG% when defending the PnR roll man; in that category, he was ranked #73 in the league.

Thing is you don't have enough offensive threats out there

    Martin being the only scorer

    Parsons average scorer
    Patterson average scorer
Lin - unknown as a Rocket
    Asik - defensive player

You could argue that you need at least one good scorer that is no liability on D.

I'm saying he's not even impressive on defense..just mediocre...Tjones is exceptional on D..getting steal, blocking shots..that lead to fast breaks. Asik is hiding alot of Patterson deficiencies. I feel like TJones is affecting the game..PPat not so much.

Yep, he is the better rebounder, you just know. He just is: accept it, despite facts proving otherwise. But who needs stats anyways?

Too many guys I like or have hopes for on this team. The next few cuts are going to be a bit painful...

If you follow both careers at Kentucky you would know.

He got close to 8 boards with Davis playing
Patterson came out as a guy who does all things well enough but nothing great.

Ultimately, no matter how good the defense is, the offensive player is still in control of whether or not the ball goes in the basket. All the defender can do is make it as hard as possible for them.

Patterson is the better defensive option until Jones becomes consistent in his rotations and box outs.

People see Jone's blocks and think wow, he is a great defender, but they ignore or don't see him give up his position or miss a rotation which causes his man to be so deep in the paint for the block to even be possible.

Asik deserves credit for 3rd quarter shutdown NOT Patterson. Ppat is a bystander.

Nothing is proven right now. Patterson did not rebound exceptionally well during his first two seasons. Dun bother to look it up.
I give him props for his good PnR defense but that's about it.
After his surgery he did look average. PER was turrible.

Terrence at least has 3 years to become better.

Just got home from the game. Sat 8 rows up, midcourt. My wife was quick to notice Kevin Martin's effort on D-- that playa has done a 180ยบ there. Good team D tonight. Can anyone tell me what Lopez's hard foul on Lin was about?

Jones doesn't box out. Ppat does and is the better rebounder. Boxing out is essential in the NBA, and not so much in college, when most NBA players are just more athlectic than their opponent. Do you know how many o-boards they got on Jones this game?

See this is the problem with people. Basketball is a team game and there is a defensive unit. Trying to take away credit from one guy on the floor and giving it to another is just biased.

Why does it even matter who starts? They both played 21 minutes. I am glad you felt like Jones was affecting the game, however the PP was +14 and Jones was +4, so perhaps you should consider you weren't feeling it right.

True Patterson is indeed a role player, but his role is to be one of more experienced players in our starting lineup along with Martin and to play defense.

People may like what Jones has the potential to offer but you can't tell off his small sample size if he is ready for starting minutes or big game situations. And remember this is McHale coaching, he has no problem benching vets but he normally prefers the players most willing to play actual defense rather then what they can do offensively.

NBA players has got to be the worst interviews; they stutter, stammer, and mumble worse than MLB or NFL players. Plus more ebonics than the other 2.

    I don't mind who starts at 4.
The better talent will always prevail.
Terrence as a rookie has more room to grow than Patterson.
