Anybody know how to properly take wristband off to share to a friend for other days when I am not able to make it? Or know how to get pass the whole security check they do for the wristbands?

The wristband must be snug on the wrist; if not ACL crews will take it...

I've encountered the same situation as you are right now and came to an absolute conclusion. You cannot share.

Man, for some reason I'm just not as pumped about this year. I'm sure that will change as I'm driving in Friday morning, but typically I'm mega-excited the Wednesday before. I think it was my amazing Vegas trip just a couple weeks ago.

I'd have to see the wristband.

I'm not either. I wasn't planning on going at all until this past week. My wife guilted me into it and one of my friends had a 3-day at face value. I'm really only looking forward to Neil Young to cross off my music bucket list.

I was fortunate enough to win a pair of three-days, so the lineup is definitely more enticing when it's free. But, if I had to spend money on an Austin festival this fall, it would be Fun Fun Fun Fest by a country mile.

I'm with you, leroy. Neil Young is the one to see, especially considering it may be the last time he tours with Crazy Horse. Jack White's young and will be around for a while.

Otherwise, I'm excited to see The Roots, Steve Earle, Black Keys (I've never seen them), M83 and Die Antwoord (I imagine they put on a SHOW). Oh, and anything in the Zilker Tent. Lee Fields will be there and it's the most consistent stage at ACL every year.

Expand on this please. I've never been so I'd like to know what you're referring to.

The Black Keys are one of the best live shows I have ever seen. Seen them multiple times and am just as excited to see them tonight. It will change your life.

never been to ACL, but it is too ridiculously easy to get in free press summer fest with photocopied wristbands...

It's a matter of personal preference. FFFF has a much bigger hip hop presence (A$AP Rocky, Bun B, AraabMuzik, Run DMC, Rakim, etc.) and a lot of rock bands that edge toward punk and hardcore (Tomahawk, *****ed Up, The Sword, Japandroids, Torche, Titus Andronicus). They've also got legendary bands like Refused, X and Superchunk.

FFF has a comedy stage, too, but that's a strange dynamic for a festival. However, the side events - Air Sex Championship, Hot Dog Eating Contest, TACO CANNON - have an off-the-wall feel that ACL doesn't match. And, really, they shouldn't. They're two different festivals. Fun Fun Fun seems to have more of a renegade feeling to it, although it's getting larger every year.

Just bought my wristband a couple of days ago. Pretty sure they're really strict about their wristband policy...

First ACL so I'm PUMPED! :D

Well last year myself and a friend of mine were able to slip both of them off our wrist. they appeared relatively tight but we could both pop them off. I have a small wrist as i am skinny and my friend who is fat was also able to pop his off as well.

I didnt want to mess with busting my open cause i planned on going back into the festival but i could take it off and put it back on as i pleased.

But, my larger friend decided to head home on Sunday instead of go to the festival and we tried to slip his wristband onto someone elses hand but it was impossible. So we took a butterknife to it and popped the latch open that locks the wristband.

The wristband wont lock again after being popped open so you have to very sly about coming back in with it trying to fall off your hand or possibly trying tying it tight with some string or something that won't go noticed.

There is so much going on at those entrances that the number of people they actually catch i am sure will be far and few between. Just be careful. I sold my wristband but i plan on trying to sneak in on Saturday, hopefully, fingers crossed!

Gave my friend's wristband to another friend today without any hassle at all. They seriously didn't even look since they had confidence going through the scanner.

Decent festival. Neil Young was fantastic and The Roots were great. By far my two favorite acts.

Got trapped in an awful sea of people today when I tried to get to the Honda stage for Die Antwoord. I guess the organizers underestimated the popularity of The Lumineers because they were way too popular for the smaller Austin Ventures stage. The crowd was unbearable and it eventually became like a cattle rush with people pushing in every direction. Really uncomfortable and dangerous once indiscriminate pushing and shoving starts happening.

I can tell you that the people working the gates don't give a damn about loose wristbands and the like. They are just there to get paid and hopefully get to watch some concerts for free. They're temps too so they have even less care about the people making money off acl
