I know Yao and Lin are completely different. I only pointed out Strickly LOF as a fan I would not associate with as a Rockets fan. I don't give a damn about the media. Rockets fans didn't give a damn when we won two championships . There was no "HAKEEMASANITY" Don't mistaken my distaste for fake Rockets fans for not rooting for the players. If I had front row seats to a Rockets game, and had a choice between Strickly LOF and a guy wearing a Karl Malone jersey, I'd give it to the Karl Malone jersey guy because I know he's not pretending to be real Rockets fan.
Well, that's the part that I disagree. That some players are more warranted than others. I look up to my Gator players like Chandler, and ge is not a superstar yet . TinMan should have said. "I don't care if other people are Lin only fans, I just ask them to respect the Houston Rockets and Rockets fans, and the same should apply if we got LeBron or Dwight or Chris Paul or KD."
I hope you would apply the tickets with a generous amount of itching powder  but yeah I see what you're talking about. I almost think that strictly LOF is like Bizarro Sigmund. There can't be anyone that hard up on Lin.
you know my point. you want to make it really easy for you? I don't like people who think this: Lin > Rockets or people who think this: Lin = Rockets
This thread has gone completely "off", why don't we just ban this Strickly dude and get on with the good stuffs. The season is almost starting, let's just enjoy a good atmosphere.
Oh, I got your point about respect and what this board is all about. I just would add one more. I don't like people who thinks this Superstars > Rockets. And don't forget that Superstars are expendable too. We have seen many being traded for variety reasons. Like Morey would say, they are all assets.
I think an added benefit for the players will be the cheers they get at away games. The Knicks always traveled and Lin has probably taken a small but dedicated portion of Knicks fans with him. I think Lin fans tend to be different than Yao fans simply because Lin and his story appeal to a wider base of American basketball fans in major media markets(California boy, Played college ball in Boston, exploded in New York and because he is a smart guy who plays a blue collar brand of basketball.) Personally I am a lifetime New Yorker who has gotten sick of Dolan and his circle of garbage. A team imho is only going to be as good as its owner and front office and the Rockets FO is 10x better than the Knicks. I would rather spend my time rooting for a FO and ownership group I like rather than one that I hate.
of course. But the controversy of Lin is what level of superstar he is and why he's a superstar. Others who have proven their worth for years should be viewed differently than Lin. What he does with the Rockets will define his legacy going forth.
Of course, this is a straw man, because virtually no one thinks that. The real dispute is between the large segment of incoming Lin fans who believe Lin's top 40 PER and top 40 adjusted +/- last year represent how good he actually is, and the large segment of Rocket fans who think that he is not as good as the large body of evidence suggests he is. Lin had the biggest impact on the Knick's winning last year and, if he stays healthy, will have the biggest impact of any Houston player on the Rockets winning this year. That doesn't mean he = Rockets or is > Rockets, but it means what it means. This is a real dispute and we'll find out this season.
I would be dying to see Sigmund come in here and have a head-to-head with Strictly LOF. That should be classic.
Matter and anti-matter will annihilate each other into nothing. CF will be back to tinman arguing with TOF again.
Haha dude, I don't even know what we're arguing about anymore then. It seems that fundamentally we agree on the same thing, that Lin performed at a spectacular level last year, and based on that we can only make calculated guesses as to how he'll do in the future. I guess where we differ is that, being a Lin fan, I'm optimistic and would rather focus on the high odds that he will succeed in the league. On the other hand, you remain tentative based on the possibility of a few off chance scenarios. With that philosophy, anything can be possible, but by focusing on all the remote possibilities, you run into the danger of missing out on the bigger picture.
Gangdam Style WuTang Style Free Style It's pity that they don't know clutch city OFs don't know about team or who is Dream so they got to come clean to be on the clutchfans scene
I don't think those 2 can match up against Strickly, you gotta give Strick some credit, he does have talent. I think Strickly LOF would eat Sig and Rick alive.
Seems like every PG is gunning for him. Bayless and Conley ate him alive tonight. Feel sorry for him.
