I'd take Asik, Splitter doesn't really have any elite aspect in his game. He's well rounded, he can score a little, he can rebound, he's tough, but his defense is average and everything else is only a little above average. Asik can't score, but he's an All-Defense type if he can play 30 minutes a night at the same level as last year.
Completely depends on the rest of the team, but as a role player, I'd take Asik. Splitter isn't a very good shot blocker compared to Asik, and I'm willing to be Asik will be a better rebounder since he's now I'm better shape, even with his minute increase.

Splitter is so inconsistent. He's also soft as ****. He gets bullied when he posts up. He gets striped like Yao used to.
you guys are using 'soft' for anyone who's not good or physically strong, it seems. Splitter is the opposite of soft. He gets schooled, but he's always trying, being physical, pushing around. On this board, I've seen Al Jefferson called tough and Splitter soft now. When in reality, one hates to box out and push around, and the other one never stops trying, even though he may lack strength versus some 5s and is really more of a 4/5. I bet some of you would call KG soft if you didn't know who he was.
Asik was already a better rebounder last year. I think in this comparison, Asik completely dominates defensively and on rebounding. Overall, I think Splitter is someone who could start for several teams in the league. But I think Asik could start for around half the teams -- assuming he can do for 30 minutes what he did for 15 last year.
completely agree. i think he fits the 4 more than 5, but need a lot more improvement on freethrow. he is also quite agile also strong for the 4
