He's dropped a few balls here and there this season, which isn't concerning to me, but I think we need to utilize him better in the RZ.
He's playing far fewer plays than in the past, even coming out on 3rd downs. They've said numerous times they're going to try to limit his plays through the first half of the season. The Texans want him healthy and somewhat fresh going down the stretch and into the playoffs. Plus, he has been dealing with a groin issue since training camp. He's on the wrong side of 30 but still one of the best there is. At 5-0, I'm not going to complain about it at all. I love the fact that there is something to plan for into January.
More than the lack of targets or production, the most troubling sign I saw from Dre in last night's game was the body language. He seemed frustrated and flustered; I don't know if it's the fact that he was pressing because of MNF or just felt taken out of the gameplan, but his body language seemed to be the most frustrated I've seen from him in a while. He also wasn't getting separation and didn't seem like he was going as hard on every play as he usually does. We have been spoiled because he's been a consummate professional and given his all just about every single play, even during the down years. Still, his best years are behind him. I'm still hoping that they focus on him a bit more in the RZ (he was in single man a lot last night, for example), but that's been a drum that's been beaten by Texans fans his entire career...
It's too paranoid to start going a panic about it...but this is also too dismissive. The Texans are still throwing the ball...and our WR1 isn't open. Even when he was thrown to last night, he was generally covered. It's not as if Schaub isn't looking for him back in the pocket.
Well what I meant is that his numbers would look a lot better if he was targeted more. I know he isn't the same WR but hopefully he can still produce like a #1 when the time calls for it. Next week would be a good start. Wayne torched GB.
I'm suggesting he's not being targetted because he's not creating separation to get open. I don't think Schaub is avoiding him when drops back.
This. I think it'll be telling if he's able to play well or not vs. Woodson. Definitely going to need him to go to work if we're gonna have a chance to win against the Pack.
I like ND Kalu but... He just said that the reason Andre's production is down is because Schaub doesn't have a big arm and Andre needs a QB with a big arm.
i saw the fustration too. he would throw his hands up anytime they didn't execute a play to him. during one RZ run play, his job was to block/ or draw cromartie away. you can tell he was just going through the motions, slowly getting off the line of scrimmage. i'm an optimist when it comes to this team, but i can't deny it. AJ isn't THE threat anymore. he's on pace for less than 55 catches. maybe the offense is so good that the plays are spread out. i don't know.
Andre got no separation last night...there was nowhere for Schaub to throw. Even on the interception, Schaub was forcing a throw to AJ. I put this more on Andre than on Schaub not targeting him. There wasnt really any play where AJ was open...he was blanketed all night and when he was open, he caught one pass and dropped another. Poor performance for Andre.
His cuts look generic, dropped balls, can no longer beat great CB's, he's just on the wrong side of 30, plus we're still not playing him full time due to his previous injuries. The player I want gone in Holliday. Just get rid of that POS NOW.
so if it's an age thing, why can a 30 year old TE with 100 acl surgeries make cromartie look silly on a route. Let's face it, Jets did an awesome job scouting AJ. Cromartie didn't bite when andre did his reverse back pivot double move but when it came to O.D, who he wasn't ready for...T.D Schaub has just been taking what the D has been giving him. Props to the Jets D, undermanned they were great with their game plan.
Nope. He was a beast in the playoffs against the Ravens and he'll be a beast when we need him again. Right now he is very limited in what they are asking him to do -- he's on a play count and Kubiak has really held in the reins on the passing game in these games against teams with no firepower (Jax, Tenn, NYJ). He'll be ready when we need him.
