It is mostly LOFs hating on Machado, but that is understandable. They are LOFs after all.

Not so. I think Lin is perfect for the starting PG. A young guy who has already played at a high level is perfect for a young team. Lin, being a still pretty young vet, can relate more to the rookies than an older vet could. Especially Machado, who is entering the league in a way that was some what similar to Lin entering.

Please. If Machado hasn't run his mouth, no one would have paid much attention to him. It's his comments that stirred up the reaction.

why lose so much efforts and time

    discussing one against others...

    clutch is a informative board...

and not a opinion making board like ESPN...

In ESPN they can full a board with +5000 posts and in a few hours...

because they are read for millions all around the world

At the end of the day, I like Machado and I'm glad he's on the team. I may not agree with his quotes but i know there's more to a player than what gets reported by the media.

You have to level your expectations about Machado. Remember he was passed over by 30 teams twice and the second time it was for 8 Euros whose names you can't pronounce and who can't play over here this year because they have contracts and buyouts. I hope he makes it but undrafted players like him are a long shot.

Exactly, since he's not asian, there's no "can't play basketball" label on him.

You say 'run his mouth', but I bet if you go back and read his original comments you wouldn't feel so strongly. If they are read at face value without the New York article around them, they don't seem very hostile. I bet we agree that Machado is getting way too much attention for dumb reasons.

Mostly by the fans of CF. Too much attention+over-hyped.

Looks like we have cabin fever in this forum. Less than a month to go before tip-off, and all the new fans (Lin fans like myself) and Houston fans are at each other already. LOL!

For LOFs, they had to suffer through the debates in the Knicks forums. Although Lin was killing it, a good number of Knicks fans still didn't believe Lin was the answer and PG. So there was a lot of debates about Baron Davis being better than Lin. Then you have guys like Stephen A. Smith basically calling Lin a scrub. Funny thing, Smith is a self-proclaimed Knicks fan, that didn't watch any of the Linsanity games live (I followed his tweeter account during the run).

If you're a smart fan of Lin, or a Rockets fan, you gotta hope that Machado is better than Toney Douglas. Douglas is not a PG, his decision making is extremely poor. His defense is below-average to average, and his shot isn't consistent. He's a liability at the 1. If Machado becomes the next Lin, Houston will get their second star (assuming Lin also turns into a star), and Lin can slide to the 2 postion (which also makes Martin even more expendable), and you have a competitive team.

Yes, Machado's comments were a bit rude, but when you're on the bottom looking up, you need that self-confidence. I hope Machado becomes a legit starting PG, and I'm a Lin fan. Really though, how often does an undrafted PG become a starter in the league. Never happened from what I remember, except for this past year. Unlikely that Machado beats out Douglas or even Lin, but I hope he can at least beat out Douglas. I like Douglas the person, dislike Douglas the PG. He's better suited for the SG, but undersized.

Oh sure, because it's perfectly normal for an undrafted rookie QB to proclaim repeatedly to the media "I'm the real deal (that is, a 'true point guard') unlike my team's starter." And then go on to compare his college stats favorably to the latter's.

In fact, every rookie should do that to his team's starter, because that's just so conducive to camaraderie-building on the team. And totally not
likely to create gratuitous strife in the lockerroom.

Like I've pointed out before, Machado is banking on Lin's famously good nature to get away with his trash talking. No way he'd dare to try this shinola on a Carmelo or even a Monta. The smackdown would be epic.

But then, Lin haters believe the Asian guy should just take any abuse - whether it comes from superstars or undrafted rookies - humbly and uncomplainingly because...hmmm...why?

You gotta understand the term of a Lof, if a Lof cares for the Rockets or anybody besides Lin, he's getting kicked out of the Lof Club.

Like this team wasn't already headed for a sufficiently tumultuous season.

Never mind all the youth and lack of experience resulting in crushing losses, but going forward, how are the Rockets ever going to use Royce? How do you gameplan with him as an important piece of plays if it's a toss-up whether he's even going to show up at tip-off? And if his condition doesn't improve, how do you trade him?

No, the Rockets don't have enough problems yet. Hey, why not add a smart mouth who won't stop talking smack about a senior colleague every time he so much as goes near a microphone?

All with the blessing of so-called Rockets fans (aka Lin haters), apparently.

How is Machado talking smack? The NY media twisted his words to make him sound arrogant. You need to tone it down. It's getting rather annoying reading your posts and I consider myself a LOF.

It's a nice pass and all... but why did he passed it instead of going for the and-1?

Strictly LOF is not really a LOF, he's actually a LOH, it does make sense after you gave it a thought.
