Until the Rockets can put out a winner they appear to be marketing to: Asians Argentinians Europeans Panamanians People w/Anxiety Disorders I think that should fill the Toy Box.
On the court - that's the key. You really can't plan or practice with him because you don't know if or when he will be in the arena much less on the court. Imagine a guy at work that calls in sick all the time - day of. It does put a hurt on the company and/or the rest of the employees. Eventually you just plan on them not showing up and if they do, you have an extra. Extras can't be counted on and the company must learn function without them if that company is going to succeed. And the worst part about this is with most illnesses or injuries. you can either plan for them to get better (creating a bandaid lineup) or move on. With mental illness, there is no planning and there is no moving on unless you want to just cut ties or don't count on them to be a critical piece. Roger Clemens had home game only privledges but that was pre-agreed upon and for a starting pitcher (especially for a good one) they can work around that pretty easy. Royce is not Roger and if Kevin has to work around it, I think it will in a way that Royce won't be happy with - which more than likely will trigger more emotions which is a setup for more anxiety. Kevin, as do most coaches, want consistancy from his players. If they aren't consistant, I doubt they will find a roation spot or any court time.
You don't think it was clear that Ron had issues before the draft? The NBA will put up with a lot, including criminal records, drug problems, mental illness and whatever Darko Milicic's problem is, because it's not that easy trying to find one of the top couple hundred basketball players in the world.
I don't know ... was it clear ? I don't remember anything until he was in the NBA. I'm not saying guy's with issues won't still get drafted .. many incident's will just be thought of as immaturity type issues, but if the goal is to be open and honest about having(mental)problems, well I just don't see how this is helping that cause. If anything it's hurting it.
I'm not going to just start making assumptions about things that haven't happened yet. I could easily worry about any of our players getting a DWI or getting hurt off the court. White hasn't missed any games so I won't be worried about it until he does. Right now I could sit and write 4 paragraphs about how Chandler Parson's popularity could cause him to miss games because of a sprained hip from too much ****ing.
Missing training camp...wanting to bus between road games....talking about missing games...and he hasn't even suited yet? I think all the signs are there as to what to expect. Writing fairy tales about Chandler Parsons? That's your reply logic? Mkay...I guess you can relate with Royce more than I can.
Don't get me wrong I like White as a player but the more he show his wishy washy ways the more I dislike him as a person
I'm surprised the Rockets aren't trying to void his contract. That would, of course, make Les and Morey the biggest joke in the league, so perhaps they are determined to make something of it. Good luck with that. Like the Titanic, the collision course has been set. Nothing left to do but watch the disaster from a safe distance.
Maybe he thought he could have a decent NBA career with some help from the team? I mean, what is the point of people with a mental illness ever trying to do anything with their lives that may cause them difficulties?
like Steve Harvey said "The band was playing as the ship went down". I can't believe Les is taking this from Royce White I would have voided his contract the day he no showed to camp...but its damage control
Sure, someone with a disability can have a successful life, but certain occupations won't be an option depending on the disability. There are many incredible things Royce can do, but pro basketball isn't one of them, not unless he can get over his fear of flying.
"if they didn't let me bus it to 5 out of 82 games, then i would've just prematurely retired for life"
