But he thinks his age will work against him. I disagree. If the Texans win a SB, you have to think at least one owner will offer him a job, but I find this entire line of thought to be too nauseous to contemplate. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...e-a-head-coach-again-but-i-dont-think-i-will/
mr. mcnair, make sure this man doesn't go. remember 6 wins. and the worst defense in the nfl. get out the checkbook n rip his old contract up.
He will eventually retire... but by then, the Texans defense will have an identity (as well as some cornerstone pieces) that should keep it going. Perfect example is the Ravens... who have kept an opportunistic defense long after Marvin Lewis AND Rex Ryan have left.
I'd think he would only want to inherit a team that's ready to be turned around quickly, SF style, but without the douchey Harbough fire. KC or Arizona are the only two that come to mind, but at 65 would he have the patience to wait for his QB to reach even an Alex Smith level of competence?
Alex Smith didn't magically become competent overnight... Harbaugh and his staff developed him into that. Harbaugh will probably be second to Kubiak in terms of "developing QB talent" when its all said and done. Wade would have to go to a team with an established offense... but little defense. Much like the Texans before he came here.
It certainly felt like a sudden shift from adequate to competent. No offseason in 2011 and what was a horrible preseason. They won their first game because of Ginn, and they had OL woes in the first half with neither Gore or Hunter getting good ypc. One blurb I remember when watching a 49er game was that they (commentators) mention an interview with either Smith or Harbaugh was that he's studied the position/playbook and all of a sudden the light just went on.
I think the Chiefs make an offer during the upcoming offseason. No way Crennel sticks around if they lose 10+ games again.
But with that offense currently in dissaray, it would be a lateral move. Crennel is a defensive mastermind... but not a great head coach. Hell, he would have possibly turned around our defense as well if he was here instead of Wade. Goes to show you how few teams were in our predicament (wiht a ready to win it all offense, but such an awful defense). Most bad teams are pretty mediocre both sides of the ball.
maybe after winning three superbowls in a row kubiak retires on top and leaves that kid wade in command.
He is the best coach brought in by Wade. If Wade left...which I don't think happens, he is who you promote to continue the defensive scheme. What he has done to the once pitiful secondary has been impressive!
