Completely winnable game that was lost by the coaching. Manny Diaz has failed at coaching this defense and it has shown all season long. RBs are running all over our line and there's no containment by the LBs. DBs taking terrible angles and were not wrapping up early in the season. Harsin's play calling was HORRIBLE. Run run pass only gets you so far, especially when you are being held to 1-2 yards per run. Gee, maybe try mixing it up a little? Nah, run run pass. We had the ball on the 12 yard line and got ZERO points out of it. That is on the coaching. WVU's weakness were their corners and we only exploited them on TWO plays (the back-to-back passes to the TEs). Our team is being held back by our coaching. We've been getting by on talent for a while, but our team should be much much better than this after 2 years in the gutter.
LOL Harsin called an amazing game tonight. His offense scored 45 points. This game was on Manny Diaz and the defense. They couldn't stop the run for ****. I've never seen a group of linebackers so afraid to stop the run... and guess who the linebackers coach is... yup, Manny Diaz. It's pathetic.
Offense was alright. Remember Baylor scored 60+ on WV D. Defense, on the other hand, has been atrocious since week 1 against Wyoming, and hasn't improved a bit since. The talents are there. It's all on Diaz to fix it, or he might not be around for long. I miss Justin Tucker. This one stings more losing on a missed FG, when we've had clutch kickers the last decade+.
WVU is 118 out of 122 teams in pass defense. We had 29 pass attempts out of 67 offensive plays. We did not exploit their weakness. That is NOT amazing play calling. We should have had a field day in our passing game but this game was about our average in pass yards.
What Baylor's offense did to WV means nothing at all... Completely different game and situation. The offense was great tonight.
Marshall: 413 pass yards James Madison: 112 pass yards Maryland: 305 pass yards Baylor: 581 pass yards Texas: 269 pass yards I guess play calling is great when you consistently run it up the middle for 2 yards and are forced into 3rd and longs. Here's our offensive yards against our opponents this season. Wyoming: 436 yards New Mexico: 431 yards Mississippi: 676 yards Oklahoma State: 440 yards WVU: 404 yards And WVU has the worst defense of any team we've played so far. So again, tell me how did we have a great offense tonight?
Turned out to be a game I expected it to be, aside from the two fumbles. Pretty solid game played by WVU. Manny Diaz sucks. This defense is definitely not being used to its full potential. Missing tackles left and right. Also, special teams sucks.
Might've been an attempt to control the clock via the run game and keep Geno Smith on the sideline. Didn't exactly work, especially if you take out the 2 scores from the turnovers.
Ya think? UT's offense tonight: 29 passes 269 yards. 9.4 yards per play 39 rushes, 135 yards. 3.5 yards per play. Defies explanation.
1. I don't care what those other teams did to West Virginia. 2. Yardage means nothing. West Virginia has a tremendous offense, Texas has a weak defense. How do you combat that? Ball control... and the offense executed very well. Texas was stopped 4 times. Once was on a fumble on the first play. Another was on a 3-play drive after a run, run, then pass. The other two stops were on drives they threw the ball more than they ran it. Hell, they had more incompletions than runs on those drives. The offense put up plenty of points. The defense blew it. That's really all there is to it.
