I support increasing the taxes on the wealthiest in this country. I support immigration reform. I support cutting the defense budget. I'm just a republican rooting for the country to fail.
Obama has been incredible in leading this recovery -- 7.8% is amazing number when you think of where we were headed under republican leadership.
Won't matter as much- early voting will already be going on- and I really feel, at that point, people will have truly made up their minds. And I just don't see the UE going back up to 8%. If anything, it will probably go to 7.7% or possibly 7.9% if more enter the workforce.
My opinion how they came up with the number aside, 7.8% is a slooooooow growth for 4 years worth of expensive efforts.
Indeed. Lower unemployment coupled with multi-year market highs means the economy is trending in the right direction. Would anyone want the opposite???
Then I can't imagine how you felt about not nearly as slooooooow movement in the opposite direction during the previous eight-years worth of expensive efforts.
your opinion with how they came up with the number is probably worthless because only unrepentant idiots are questioning it. By 4 years worth of "expensive" efforts do you mean the 18 months or so of stimulus programs that were very cheap, probably too cheap in retrospect? And by slow growth, do you mean taking the rate from 10% to 7.8% in 3 years, whereas the previous administration's crowning achievement was to go from 6.2% to 4.5 % in 5 years, (then ratcheting it back up to 10...)...?
The numbers are so simple, any 12 year old or senile old men can understand it. I will be very disappointed if Obama does not drive home the point for these next few weeks. Unemployment rate when Bush took office, Jan 2001, 4.2% When Bush left office, Jan 2009, 7.8% and it was still going up. Unemployment rate when Obama took office, Jan 2009, 7.8% NOW, 7.8% and it has been going down. Everything else is unnecessary (although we have so much ammunition)
– Labor force grows. The labor force grew by 418,000 people, so the drop in the unemployment rate was not due to people giving up on looking for work. http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2012/10/05/966371/good-news-september-jobs-report/
The simple fact is that the economy is recovering. The unemployment rate is dropping and Obama is doing his job. To anyone who says these numbers are BS... really? Conspiracy theories really? All these repubs gone be mad now at the country doing better. What a disgrace they are
Unemployment, February 1st year of term to September 4th year of term (February is used because President is not sworn in until January 21st- since that’s less than half a month, February is the first full month for a Presidential term. September is used so that all can be compared with the exact same number of months). 1. Clinton 1: 7.1% to 5.1% (-2.0) 2. Reagan 2: 7.2% to 5.4% (-1.8) 3. Clinton 2: 5.2% to 3.9% (-1.3) 4. Obama 1: 8.3% to 7.8% (-.5) 5. Reagan 1: 7.4% to 7.3% (-.1) 6. W Bush 2: 5.4% to 6.1% (+.7) 7. W Bush 1: 4.2% to 5.4% (+1.2) 8. HW Bush 1: 5.2% to 7.6% (+2.4) http://www.miseryindex.us/indexbymonth.aspx?type=UR
agreed. it would be absurd to accuse an admin that lied about benghazi and fast & furious of cooking the books one month before the election. preposterous.
