OK so what the heck is he doing not getting down there NOW. Something else is not being said about this situation.
I can foresee this being one hell of a marketing opportunity if Royce pans out. who wants a ride with Royce on the Red Rowdy bus for our Mavs/Spurs away games?
So, he will fly sometimes, wtf. Sounds just too weird. If he has a condition with flying why the hell fly at all? SMH, this isn't good.
That would be exactly what Royce would hate right? He's not comfortable w/ large crowds of ppl when off the court.
What seems to be so hard to understand? The more the NBA routine becomes "his" routine the more comfortable he will become with flying. Lessening the need for the ameliorating factor of the bus.
White doesn't only have GAD, but severe OCD. Having a schedule, building routine (part of the latter) helps to deal with the former. Hope he finds his balance.
he needs to get his butt to practice today! get on the bus and go now! why wait? missing valuable reps
Agreed, Dear Mr. White Stop twitting Stop crying Stop speaking with the media Start doing something start trainning You are not a Diva
Damn, why didn't they get this done in July or August? Everybody knew there's gonna be trouble, why wait for camp opening to find a solution? He misses a whole week with the team, that sucks.
Not sure why he doesn't join them now instead of Monday if things have worked out enough. My pet theory is that Royce is afraid of the snakes and Mexican cartel down in the Valley-- Aren't we all? Seriously though, I am not that concerned. While it is bad to miss practice, didnt Parsons miss much of the abbreviated preseason last yr because he didn't sign his contract yet (cap maneuvers)? He caught up quickly enough.
I believe that he thought he could get through the season with all of the flying involved. but with anxiety, the closer the time comes, it gets harder and harder to start facing reality. And even after he realized this might be a problem, he began to be anxious about the repercussions of asking for help. For people with a mental illness, the most scary part of the whole situation can be the asking for help. and that is what happened here. Until media day came, he thought he could get through it, but realized he needed help.
I feel like a combination of 1) Misunderstanding regarding what Anxiety Disorders are 2) Determining this season's whipping boy 3) False exaggerations of the issues. Led to this entire fiesta. Honestly, putting things in proper context the issue is mishandled but not severe enough that his rookie season is compromised (as some suggested). We have accommodated far more players with far less justifiable reasons.
Parsons was there at the gym. He, himself said that just by sitting and watching them go over the sets and practices helped him a lot.
I absolutetly understand that, but still I think, both sides could have worked on an "what if"-scenario earlier and not just wait and see. If they did, it didn't work out too well.
I just watched his ESPN interview. He mentioned, up to now, things were voluntary before becoming official. Is the training camp voluntary at all? When is the official time he has to report to Rockets?
People are sure getting their panties in a bunch. It's not even a real issue yet. Meaning it's not affecting games...yet. When it/if does, you guys are going to lose it!
I believe he was talking about summer league and workouts....he should have reported for media day and camp.
When Royce White comes back on Monday, he will still have twice as many days of training camp to fully participate in than Parsons watched last year.
a lot of you need to get off the kid's jock. he doesn't think he's special, he just has an illness. being pragmatic about dealing with it is the correct approach. White and the org seem to have hammered out a solution. No one is worse for wear. He's gonna have to work extra hard to make up for the week he lost, but that can get done.
