I figured this would be overlooked in the other threads, but please merge if necessary.

McALLEN – Royce White said he will join the Rockets for practice on Monday in Houston after he received the team’s blessing to travel to a large part of the season’s schedule by bus as part of his plan to manage his mental illness.

The Rockets, he said, were willing to put their agreement in writing and to even have it included in his contract, but because contracts are subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement, it could be a long process to gain approval from the NBA and the NBA Players Association for a unique addendum to the standard league contract.

“We’ll go forward in good faith deal between me and Rockets and I’m totally comfortable with that,” said White, who has been absent from camp. “We can find a way to get it into writing at some point. We do have a letter between us. It’s an agreement, not in contract form, but those are technicalities.

White said he will supply the bus he will use for much of the season’s travel, calling overnight trips of up to nine hours “no problem at all.”

The NBA requires that teams travel the day before games when not playing on consecutive days, but does not specify that teams must fly when traveling certain distances. By leaving immediately after practices and games, White said he can keep his normal sleeping habits which is part of the treatment for his disorder and still arrive in most cities before the next day’s practice or shootaround.

He said that his delay in reporting for the Rockets’ training camp was to formulate and formalize his plan with the Rockets, calling his willingness to put off more substantive discussions with the team until shortly before the start of camp is part of dealing with the illness.

The Rockets organization should've negotiated with Donuts and his agent about his infections before he was drafted

Why the hell couldn't he train and hold the discussions at the same time. How were the discussions stopping him from training?

If his anxiety isnt keeping him from camp then what the hell is wrong with him? I just dont get the proactive reative excuse. Its lame.

Because the Rox may look pretty terrible if it were the first game tomorrow >.> We have loads of talent, but very little concrete plans to mesh it well so far.

Last day in McAllen is on Tuesday...first preseason game is in Hildago TX on Wednesday

Let me toss out a heartening observation. The fact that the Rockets didn't immediately boot Royce to the IR list is a very strong indication that they feel he's going to be a hell of a player.

I just want to see some scrimmage videos with Royce in them. Time to focus on what really matters what he brings to the court. I am sure once Royce starts playing well everybody will be back on the bandwagon.

They should allow Royce to have access to live footage of the training camp so at least he can get some work done in houston
