Another stellar thread which has exemplified the GARM's reputation as a place of sober thought, reason, and standing behind our players.
Last time I checked having anxiety meant to be scared of something so that makes everyone on this earth have a mental disorder...I'm scared to go to funerals but you not going to care if I am or not...so you get off of my back...last time I checked I have an opinion whether it be the wrong thing to say in a moment or not...we trying to build team moral cause we are young and this put a damper on that
Guys need to relax. Missing a practice is not the end of the world. He has talent. He can put it together. There will be growing pains. But you have to take a shot. I hope it works out for him.
Royce is a special talent, and if he can overcome his mental health issues the Rockets would be extremely fortunate to have him on the roster. As someone who has anxiety, just let me say that the first year will most likely be a tough ride for Royce. No two people are the same, and no two cases are the same, but looking at it he will have a hard time adjusting to the NBA lifestyle. If Royce and the Rockets can ride it out over the first season though, we should be in for a great show in the not too distant future. Patience
[Sarcasm]Wow...our NBA Championship dreams are derailed!!! I can't believe he's costing us our ring!!![/Sarcasm] I wish him well. We're in this for the long view anyway. I hope he's part of it when the Rox turn it around.
Don't worry, that is a prick attitude. Mental issues can be very debilitating and when episodes occur is somewhat outside of your control.
Who would be dumb enough to draft a player with mental problems? Didn't Ryan Leaf show the world why it is a bad idea to draft a nutcase?
I can't really understand it either...and I'm grateful I can't because I'm fortunate enough not to suffer from anxiety disorder. I haven't felt leprosy either.
I'm sympathetic to Royce, personally....but this will be fair criticism if this continues to be an issue. This is a franchise that really can't afford to miss on draft picks at this point.
Royce needs to go to McAllen anyway and head to the nearest Pronto (a mexican 7-eleven) grab a couple of beers, then go to El Pato (a ghetto taco cabana) and eat of couple of chorizo tacos. Trust me, if that two hit combo doesn't work nothing will.
Wow this thread is extremely depressing. Some of the comments are just pure ignorance. Makes me realize that society still has a long way to go. Basketball season just needs to start so we can stop talking about all this extra stuff. Everybody was loving Royce after what he did at SL & after the grantland video now, even when we haven't even heard the entire story yet, are jumping to conclusions and throwing Royce under the bus. How quickly people forget.
I totally buy that this anxiety order can destroy his life. It can be a horrible affliction. But I don't get his logic. He said he's not feeling any anxiety right now. If that's true, then why isn't he in camp?
The ignorance of mental health issues and lack of compassion in this thread is mind numbing, but sadly, not surprising.
